I stay away from it.
I usually drain the fuel from the carb with a petcock on our Cub cadet, start the engine, shut off fuel, and run it dry.
And put some b12 chemtool in the tank. Or some K100.
One year we used stabil, first time the carb ever gummed up.

I've had better success using Seafoam as a way to keep finicky carburetors running smoothly.

Others have touted it as a good soaking solution for removing varnish buildup from carburetor jets and other components.

I put a few capfuls of mechanic in a bottle in my lawnmower today. It worked great.

Had to mulch up some leaves.

Buccee's has ethanol free gas. That's all I use in my lawn equipment and Atv's.

Many fuel additives contain some type of alcohol. It's a great solvent! So go ahead and pay for that ethanol free gas and then add it back!

Seafoam per MSDS:
Pale Oil 40-60%
Naphtha 25-35%
Isopropyl Alcohol 10-20%

Berryman's B12 per MSDS:
Toluene 40-50%
Acetone 20-30%
Methanol 20-30%
Methyl Ethyl Ketone <5%
Isopropyl Alcohol <5%
2-Butoxyethanol <5%

I do not like to add Seafoam to any of my gasoline motors prior to their sitting for any length of time, but I swear by it when it comes time to get them running right after storage. It does a great job cleaning jets and injectors. I use Stabil for storage.

It's easier if you take a photo of the instructions, then zoom in on the photo.

I use Seafoam and Sta-bil(marine) at the same time. My boat is a Evinrude (95) and it had never let me down or had a wrench on it.

Boats get Seafoam. Everything else gets Stabil Ethanol treatment year round, 1 oz per 10 gallons. Nothing gets winterized here.

Pull mine out and run it on muffs one a month if it's a nice day.

Leaving ethanol in your fuel lines and carb is not good.

I have better luck leaving gas in the bowl and using either ethanol free (preferred) or Stabil. Seems like when that needle dries out in the winter you will be replacing it in the spring. Ethanol is real hard on the aquariums lines they use on 2 cycle equipment. Make sure you use ethanol free or replace the lines with ones rated for ethanol.

i would recommend running units out of fuel then putting some trufuel in them (canned ethanol-free fuel), run them on trufuel for a minute or two to get fuel through carb. should be good to store until spring.
