I like my suppressed .308 with 168 Nosler Ballistic Tips. I'm getting 2730 FPS with my handloads from a 20" barrel. Plenty of energy and decent BC for any range I'll hunt at. Not much recoil, and it's nice and quiet so the neighbors aren't texting to ask me what I shot. 
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

I think Ballistic Tips are ideal for medium game if you aren't pushing them over 3,000 fps.

45 Colt in an open sight rifle and 255 gr cast boolit is my favorite for under 100 yds, good light.
Scoped .30-'06 and 150 gr corelokts handloads used all other times.

Papalote My dad loves hunting with his British 303 with open sights and cast bullets. He's pretty salty to 100 yards or so.

The 338-06 has been the most consistently impressive round I’ve killed deer with. A good 225g bullet does cool stuff at moderate speeds.

3006 with a cup and core 150. The only cartridge i have never had a tracking job with, not even a short one. IDK if a "better" bullet could possibly work better, cause perfection is hard to beat. I may have to track the next one i shoot, but it would be an anomaly
