Great buck and story. Doesn't get any better than that.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2019/11/full-66393-209569-img_3093.png) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2019/11/full-66393-209570-img_3092.png) My wife's first deer. Below is her story of her first hunt as the hunter and not just an observer, I'm so proud to have gotten to experience this with her. What’s the saying, “Go big or go home?” I think I accomplished that this morning. Over the years, I’ve spent many many hours in the blind with Bryan and Wyatt watching and learning. Up until this trip, my role at the deer lease was the official photographer and cook. I told Bryan last season I wanted to try and harvest my first deer. After some talks and practice at the shooting range he said, “I think you’re ready.” We got up this morning and headed out. At first light, a young doe came out to the feeder. About 15 mins later there came another doe. The sun was up good and I was beginning to get hopeful about more coming in. Then the worse possible thing...a pack of dogs came running through and scared off the doe. I was sure our morning hunt was a bust. We settled down and waited to see if the doe would return. About 20 mins passed and Bryan had a “feeling” and turned around to watch behind us while I continued to watch the feeder. Then he whispered, “there’s a good one behind us and a fork horn so keep still as they may come on around us.” Then they were gone. 10 mins later HE walks out! I punched Bryan in the leg. He said, “get ready he’s a good one.” By this time I had him spotted in the scope, took a deep breath, and let it go.I won’t lie, I cried and as he ran in front of me I asked Bryan if I got him. He said, “oh yeah you got him”. I can’t thank Bryan enough for walking me through every step of the way. And what an honor it was to be able to harvest my first buck with my father in law’s rifle and him here with me. The only thing that would have made this better was if PaPaw was in the blind with me. PaPaw and I have named him “Old Boxcar Willie!” November 24, 2019 Childress, Tex 8:30am Remington 243 12 Point Weight 183.8 Nice deer , cool that you guys hunt together

We enjoy hunting together. She does give me my space when I need it, running a company sometimes all you want to do is sit by yourself with no phones, no one asking you questions, no pressure, etc... She is a good judge of when I need to go to the lease alone, and will encourage me to do so, but I do enjoy her company and watching her learn and enjoy something I enjoy.
I find myself coming back to this post and looking at the pictures and reading her story over and over (just can't get enough of it). The Papaw mentioned is my dad, he loves her and would do anything for her.
