The Christmas decorations are almost done in my neighborhood. They are mostly pretty simple with children helping. I plan to pass myself. A lady in the subdivision was taking orders for Poinsettias for a school function. I got 6 and gave 1 to another friend. May get a few more.

My son came over yesterday and together we put up our annual lights and decor. Have to do it with 2 young grandsons that get so excited this time of the year.
I taught him everything he knows about exterior illumination. 😀

There is a large subdivision near called Pecan Grove Plantation. They really go all in with contest and tours.

I wasn't going to put them up this year but the wife says they have to be done, so I'm working on them a little at a time.

I don’t do extension ladder anymore, so wife just drapes some light over the rock retaining wall now.

Lit wreath hanging on the front door. Done. My neighbor pointed out that I might want to remove the Trump White House ornament from it. "Who do you think is driving the delivery trucks and mail vans?" he asked. Valid point.

Put ours up before coming back to work from thanksgiving.

As a kid we never decorated mostly just a tree when we were little but as a teen and older not even that. My wife likes the decorations and the kids love lights so we put them up now.

I used to spend several hours at our old house with the old style multiple color larger bulb type lights, had several hundred feet of lights that lined the front roof, sides and peak. I found using tea cup screws under the eaves made for much quicker set up. When we moved to our current home, we upgraded to LED icicle lights across the front eave but one bulb goes bad and you loose a portion of the string, which is a PITA to find the one (or several) bad bulbs to replace.

This year, we hired a company to come put up nice LED lights across the pitches and eaves with the clips to hold in place. These look so much nicer IMO and I didn't have to shimmy up an extension ladder or get on the roof. And we have a nice wreath on the front door.

I suspect we will be setting up the tree inside this coming weekend and get interior stuff lined up.

I enjoy putting up lights and inflatables. I buy the C9 long strands and cut to fit my house. My new roof is much steeper than my old house so it was a little challenging this year. I love the inflatables too. Wife decorates the inside with tree, garland on fireplace and stair railing. She also has about 10 snow village houses that she puts up. I add an inflatable outside every year and she adds a snow village inside. This year I let my 2 year old pick out the newest inflatable. He picked Chase (paw patrol) and was pumped about helping me put it up (he holds the stakes and tie down straps for me).

Mine went up last Saturday. Glad I got it out of the way.

Nearly all the neighbors have theirs up.

We have a bunch of blow-up's for the yard and a few strands of lights that we put around the windows. It takes a couple of hours and everything is done. On the inside, we bought a lighted tree a few years ago and that's about all I do now. Basically, take it out of the box, put the pieces together and plug it in. Throw a tree skirt around it and I'm done. We used to go all out and decorate the tree and the mantle. However, once the kids hit the teenage years, I got tired of decorating the tree by myself and then having to take everything back down by myself. So until they decide to help out, we basically have a tree with lights and that's it.

Thanks,
Rich

"I plan to pass myself." Bill, is there something you're not telling us?

I love the lights. I had professionals put mine up this year, I also put a wreath with lit garland around my front door.

Got my tree up and decorated-lights everywhere inside.

I love Christmas

The wife handled all the decorations, 'cept for the battery-powered wreath she wants on the front gate. I got that up. laugh Although, the setting on the control is still in limbo...it should be correct by tomorrow. hammer

Finished my outside lights today. Should have checked them before putting them up. Got half of one set not working on the gazebo and half of one set not working on the house. Guess I'll be trying to figure those out tomorrow. bang

Wife decorated the entire house with new plates etc...every little saying on every little plaque you can buy. I hung 150' of lights outside on the front and side fascia but ran out of lights. Will get some more tomorrow. She will be happy when she gets home from late meetings tonight to see the house lit up. And bought some remote control deals at Lowes so we can turn them on and off from inside.
Sorry Bill you are not doing anything. We love Jesus so we do love this season also!

I'm the same way with even step ladders. I may hire some done the next time Cathy comes home for Christmas.

Here is a tip. If the lights still have those tiny fuses that have a practically invisible element, you can check them with a multi-meter on the continuity setting. I never could see inside those fuses, in the dark with a flashlight. I would take the probes on a multi-meter and could check them without even prying the fuse out.
