Was anyone able to take advantage of the 4 doe days over the Thanksgiving holiday for the 21 no doe counties? I was invited to hunt in Fayette Co. and we harvested 3 does over the weekend. Hopefully the TPWD continues with this next year.

I got a 105 lb doe in Lee Cty and am very happy about the new doe season. I probably could have gotten another one, but since I got a spike a week earlier, and some recent hogs, I really didn't want anymore meat.

I don't hunt on a very large place at 200 acres and there was a lot of shots fired in the area over that weekend, and our doe population has been steady over the years, but in my opinion overkill is possible with the new 4 day season, so I gave the does a pass this year to see what happens.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

We used to have a 4 day doe season at Thanksgiving then it was extended. It now runs from Opening day until Sunday before thanksgiving, I think. We take our does during bows season when it's easier to pattern them.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

One was taken on my place.

We completely screwed ourselves this year. Our does days were traditionally Thanksgiving and fri-Sun after. They switched it on us this year to season opener through the 17th, but no one realized it until after it was too late! Ugh. Gonna have to rely on the late youth hunt to get our does this year. I only took one doe during bow this year.
