I had the remains of a hog about 10 feet from the far side of the power line ROW, used as bait, with the intention of shooting a coyote. I figured he’d come out of the brush and chew on it. I’m focused. I’m ready. Well, the coyote did about what I expected, but did it too fast. He dashed out of the brush, grabbed the pig chunk and was back in the brush before I could get the gun up. Dang. Men plan...God laughs...

They are quick suckers. See them all the time cross one of our shooting lanes around 400 yards. Same here...spot them with your eyes, verify with binos, get on the gun...gone!

I was out on an oilfield Friday and had one trot across the road in front of me. I squeaked at him when I stopped and the goofy bastard turned around and came up 20 yards from the truck and stopped. I had the 30-30 under the back seat but it probably would have been bad for business if I’d shot him.
