My 8 year old daughter has been ready to come stay at the lease and sit with me in the stand, this weekend worked out and we are at the cabin and just got done eating grilled cheese and soup. I have been seeing lot of deer but just not the older class bucks, hopefully she brings us some good luck in the morning! I love bringing kids out, either way it’s going to be good.

Don’t make the mistake I made. Make sure it’s enjoyable. I tried to hunt like I regularly do with my daughter. She has no interest. I wouldn’t get up so early, or walk as far. I would definetly modify my strategy if my daughter ever went again.
Good luck. Have fun. Make sure she has fun.

Appreciate the advice, she has a older sister that is a freshman at Tarleton this year, my daughter that is with me now is so ready to get into hunting because her sister brought home multiple good bucks the last 4 years, Th his one will gladly help clean a deer in any way possible. Next year will be her first year I will let her take a deer on her own, this year is just getting more experience looking at deer. She has been sitting with me once a year since she was 5, we will shoot in the off season and get ready for next season.

My 3 girls hunted with me. Only 1 continues. Last year she skinned, gutted and processed her 2 deer. She wanted to be sure she could do it so she can take over the chore when I am unable. Enjoy these days. Only 2 of 8 grandkids come to the ranch.
Again, drink it up Dad! Memories for a lifetime.

Love it! Love it! Love it! I kick myself since I never took my daughters hunting during my 30 year hunting hiatus. I always thought I would, but I just didn’t ever commit. My younger daughter’s boyfriend is a hunter and has taken her to a game ranch he hunts. Hopefully he takes her long on his hunts rather than have her hang out at the ranch. We will see.
Retired!

Two daughters here. Love to see these Daddy/daughter threads! Good luck! Here’s some of my memories:

Oh man that is awesome almost nothing as enjoyable as having your little kiddos out in the woods with ya, great job and good luck Initially my daughter would go out to the woods with me for the most part just to learn how to drive the truck, never cared about hunting at first. Then about 4 years ago she decided she wanted to shoot a buck, so we practiced shooting to which she was very good at. The morning before she came out I saw a huge buck bigger than anything I have ever shot and passed on it for her, we saw it late that evening with just two minutes of shooting and she could not get a clear shot. One of these days when I get another place to hunt I will get my girl a deer. Next morning in the blind she did a lot of this

We had a slow morning, had a young doe come to the feeder and saw a young 8 harassing some doe while walking back to the truck. Still it was good to have that time in the woods with her. She is ready to go see mom now.

Cherish the time together.
My Daughter expressed a desire to go hunting with me at age 9. We've enjoyed many, many hunts together over the years (with a slight hiatus during her college years).
She is 33 yrs. old now. A Registered Nurse and does 'Travel Nursing'....but she will be home again for a week around Christmas and one of her first requests was for us to go out hunting and to shoot the new pistol I got her for her Birthday back in June.
But even if your young one's 'move on' to other things...the memories made and shared during their formative years are invaluable. Do whatever it takes to make that happen, you won't regret it.
