With all the people giving their "this and that" about which gun one should/must use for deer hunting, I thought I would post a couple of polls to see what your regiment is when getting ready for the season. So, here it goes:

Which caliber do you shoot?

How often do you practice?

If you mean the first question, .277 is a .270, 7mag is a .284 and the 30-06 falls under the .30 caliber. I figured just too many calibers to list them all, so just did the basic bullet size.

I only check to make sure my deer rifles are on a little before season. If you call shooting coons, hogs, coyotes and such with the lil' p-shooters practice, then I guess I'm practicing with the guns that get put up when deer season rolls around.

Nope, just talking about your deer guns, unless thats what you use to shoot hogs, coons, yotes and the such

I love my 308 but have to say that 22-250 comes in second place. I bought my fist 22-250 this year and have taken 7 hogs with it, 6 head shots and one I broke his back at 300 yards. I can't wait to make some head shots this years on some does.

I DIDN'T VOTE FOR HIM!

Wow, all those comments and views on the 22-250 saga about what should be used for a deer rifle, and then such a little "looksy" at this poll with voting. Where are all you people that posted about "my gun's bigger than your gun."

VOTE you people!!!

i chose .277 since it is colse to 270. also, i dont really practice with my rifle, but it is shot yr round at hogs and other such animals, so as soon as i start missin ill put it back on the bags.

Guess I lied in the poll. I did check .277, cuz I use a .270 WSM for deer season. The rest of the year I either have a handgun or 99% of the time I take the short Rossi .357 mag.

Don't think more than 2 days in a row go by without something getting shot, if not several somethings.

I'm surprised that three-fourths of us don't reload. I would have guessed it would have been just the opposite.

I don't reload due to time consumption, but I place my orders for what I want and have them done by the time I need them.

300wm (whichever of the 2 I pick up)..will try out the new 300wsm this upcoming season
257wby

covers all my hunting needs.

I see maybe one squirrel a year, but you can bet 99% of the time he's on the other side of the tree when you are trying to get a shot.

If you ever think you need a lesson in humility trying plinking at lizards with a .22. It gets embarassing.

Well, looks like there aren't many people that want to "put up or shut up" when it comes to a poll about practice, gun they use, and so-on.....Oh well.....

For those that reload, keep your powder dry, for those that practice, forever shoot straight and it looks like the .22 caliber is a strong contender in the "deer/hog race" in Texas.

I "put up", my favorite is a .270, but anything long action will work.

I don't reload because of the time required and the fact ammo companies put out some darn good stuff these days.

I bought my first reloading kit at 16 loaded 100rnds of 270win and those 100rds for for every thing; shot my first deer with a reloaded bullet out of that same .270 Ruger and I have never shot a deer with a factory bullet...and last year I lost count at 18does I use 300wby,257wby,270win,25-06 and 50cal Muzzle loader All of which are effective and great deer loads. I just got a 22-250 and I will try it on does but when it comes to dropping the 200lbs bucks where I hunt I think the .25's and up are my choice.
