What are folks seeing?
I haven’t had a mature buck on camera in over a month and assume they’re heavy on the acorns. Have only hunted twice, but haven’t seen any chasing, though neighbors say they’ve seen some. Rut is almost always the week before Thanksgiving and again in mid December. No moon that week likely makes it the best time to hunt.
Broom weed is still thick at my place so hoping this cold snap finally kills it off.

I'm not in Wise but in western cross timbers. Around us, the rut is not yet in full swing. Bucks are cruising but not finding receptive doe. Acorns will freeze and hopefully turn bad, that should help somewhat. Lots of tracks in our food plots but the moon has them coming out after dark. This weekend should be good.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

Haven't seen a deer at my feeder in over two weeks. They aren't coming in at night either as the corn is piling up underneath the feeder. With all that said you can't kill them at home, might as well hunt.

We are on the Wise/Jack County line near Crafton and hunted last weekend. Feed piling up under feeders and only saw 2 bucks all weekend. Neither buck acted like it was trailing. I think the full moon had them doing the tango at midnight! We had a lot of fog Saturday morning. Killed a big coyote Friday night in an area away from our deer hunting. We were commenting that we aren't seeing any pigs and no turkeys . I hope its "on " this weekend!

After opening day I reckon something put a closed sign on my feeder. I hunt in Runnels county but the rut has started and with acorns falling corn is taking second fiddle so now it is time to start inputting all I've read and watched to out smart the lil rascals.

Corn is deep under my feeders as well. I cut them back to 1 second each until I see them hitting it again.
Did see a monster bodied deer on camera this evening, but he was a good 30 yards from the camera and can’t make out his head gear at all. He didn’t hit the feeder, just happened to walk past it.
Just scheduled so that I can hunt hard for a few days starting the 23rd. No moon when it should be at least part of the rut seems like a good combo.

North in Monrague just does and little bucks harassing and eating. Got one decent buck on a cam I put on a scrap but it was like 1 am! It was a year ago tomorrow I got mine good one that showed up on cam 2 days before. Then was dead after that. I just got lucky as this guy traveled a couple miles from where he was last spotted.

Kenny, I saw more general movement up to opening weekend, but have seen chasing for 2 weeks before the opener, not as serious as likely going on now. When I took my deer in to Cottondale, they had quite a few deer in, last night when I picked up the meat, place seemed busy. Fact, drove by the locker around 12;30 am coming in from work and they had a crew there still working, so some folks are getting into them.
I thought there where acorns before this last front came in, but after the high winds, it's like walking on rice crispy's.
BTW, my buck had fat unlike I think I have ever seen. They aren't starving..I think the key is hrs spent in the stand as usual.
If at first you dont succeed, then skydiving is not for you..
