This deer season started off great with pictures within the first few days of getting my cameras up of this buck. I instantly knew he was special. You rarely see a droptine buck in the wild and hardly ever see one with DOUBLE DROPTINES and I had one living on my little 80 acre place! I did some serious scouting from August through September and had a pretty good pattern on this deer when bow season opened. On the second day of bow season the buck followed the script and came into my setup. He was 32 yards when I took a shot at him. He ducked the arrow and turned hard right before impact. From the sound the impact made I knew I had made a marginal shot and made solid contact with the shoulder blade. I backed out and waited overnight to go look for him. The next day I had lots of help including 6 friends and 3 dogs but we never found the deer. I was SICK! I just knew I had ruined my chances at a once in a lifetime buck and was upset that he was probably suffering or died from my mistake somewhere and would not be given the respect it deserved. For the next 3 weeks I went out to my place every single day to look for vultures and to check cameras to see if somehow he survived and was still hanging around. I about had a heart attack when I finally got a single picture of the deer still alive! I started hunting every chance I had as I just knew when the rut started he would take off and not come back. I was also worried that he might get sick and die from the archery wound so I wanted to try and get him as fast as I could. He got really smart after our first encounter and would only show up right before sunrise or right after sundown. I knew from watching the cameras and the weather we had last week that the weekend would probably be my best chance for him to show up during daylight. Well Friday morning he finally made a mistake with me in the blind and came in right at 7am and I was able to keep it together this time and place the shot in the perfect spot. I am beyond thrilled to be able to close the story on this amazing deer! ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/g3FKqSx/057-C849-B-F19-F-4-AB4-A35-D-D74-D4-F1-B025-E.png)

Nice buck. Imagine the symmetry if his right drop matched the left in length!
Any evidence from the initial arrow?

Any evidence from the initial arrow? Yea no kidding. I can’t believe how symmetrical he was! I didn’t score him but I’d be surprised if he has more than an inch or two of deductions other than the drops I have some game cam pics of his other side with the wound. Crazy thing is I actually shot him in the exact same spot the second time too! So the wound opened up and looked fresh. Just a different angle did the trick. After looking at him after cleaning him the first shot was less than an inch from being fatal. The broadhead opened vertically on impact and if it had opened horizontally it would have killed him
