I collected a fat old doe on opening morning with my 300 HAM'R (I luv my 300 HAM'R!) and I have to take at least two more out of the herd this year. Thinking about what rifle to use, I remembered a Model 97D in 6PPC that I ordered from EA Brown Co. in 1993. I used that rifle for everything from prairie dogs up to and including a good-sized West Texas mule deer. I also won a few informal shooting contests with my buddies with it since it was always very accurate. Took it to the range yesterday and even after about 6 years in the safe, it stuffed all 5 shots, at 100 yards, in the same, ragged hole. I'm taking this little lady hunting this weekend!

I went out this morning and verified another load for the 6PPC, went out to the blind and had just gotten settled in when another doe made an appearance. I shot her in the eye at 100 yards and felt comfortable trying the shot. Darned little rifle is a shooter, for sure!

Target from this morning; 5 shots at 100 yards:
