I broke in my new gun tonight and sighted it in at 25 yards at the same time. First group is bottom left and last group was my dialing it in. I have always sighted in at 100 yards, but don’t have the time to do it during the week. Would you be confident in taking a shot at an animal without having shot it at 100 yards or more with the shots you see here?

The photo uploaded sideways. The right side of the photo is the bottom. Essentially, the gun is 1.5” low at 25 yards and the groups are less than an inch at 25 yards.

I would say absolutely not, until I’ve confidently shot a distance I will definitely not hunt at that range.

If you see an deer at 25 yards, aim just a little high. I've never tried to site a rifle in at 25 yards so I don't know what your trajectory is going to be.

A ballistics calculator put it at zero at 200 yards. Anyone know of an evening range I can take 100 yards shots in the DFW area? It’d have to be open until 8:30.

I would if I am in the middle of the bulls eye......your a few inches right which you can multiply by 4 @ 100 yards. You will be good if you get to the middle of the target @ 25.

He said the photo was turned and those are actually low with one beings Correction to center. That’s still a 3/4” group, that will be a 3” group, that will hit... somewhere.

A 50 yard zero is often also a 200 yard zero. It will be impacting quite low at 100 yards. You can get the rifle to me and I can check it for you. It wouldn't take up 5 minutes of my day, and I'm at a rifle range every week.

Frisco Gun Club has 100 yard indoor range but you have to be a member. When are you going hunting? I might be able to help you out on my membership.

Frisco Gun Club is open until 9. Garland public is open until 8. Go sight in at 100 yards. If you are putting in the time and effort it takes to hunt, at least put in the time to make sure your gun is sighted in properly, or have someone sight it properly for you. I would trust any gun that Fireman handed me and said was sighted in.

Thanks for the responses. These are 5 shot groups, so a few are hole in hole, but I was also adjusting 1/4 MOA on a few of the shots, especially in the center target. I am hunting on Saturday, but this isn’t my only rifle. I am good to hunt with my 30-06, but anxious to test this round (6.5 Creedmoor) in the field. I am in Arlington and may be able to get to Frisco in time to zero at distance. I will contact you (Buzzsaw) about this if I can find some time to drive this far after work.

If you don’t mind, when you do get to a range and take the first shot at 100 can you get a picture? I’m wondering how this will turn out.

When I was in the Army, we zeroed at 25 and went straight to the qual range. I have seen some guys shoot awefullly high on the range from using this method, and for a long time I recommended against it.
More recently my outlook has changed on that. An M4 has like 3" height over bore to the acog reticle. You can't compare that to a hunting rifle.
Especially open sights on a hunting rifle. If you are shooting a 30/30 open sights, I'd zero point of aim point of impact at 25 and not hesitate to take a shot at 100.
With a scoped centerfire rifle, take your height over bore and cut it in half, and zero your rifle that low and center. At 100 yards you should easily hit your target.
Edit- To answer your question, I would recommend you come up a bit, maybe half inch or so. Depending on height over bore. You got a picture of your rig?

No way in hades' I'd trust that rifle to be appropriate to shoot a deer at any range over 50 yds.
