Too many other places close by that I want to see or that serve as a vacation destination to spend money in Mexico.

Look what happened when they arrested El Chapa son. LEO and military were out gunned and the President Of Mexico said to turn him lose before any more people got killed.

I highly recommend vacations to Mexico for those that have a death wish. Nothing better than becoming a "sacrificial lamb" for the cabrito BBQ pit.

I totally agree with you, DC. There isn’t a good reason to go down there anymore. It is the pitbull of countries. It’s nice and sweet until it isn’t. Nine American women and children brutally murdered. Good gosh.

I don't think anyone on this forum has ever said that all of Mexico was safe. It's not. In fact it's quite moronic to be in those areas and the state department warns as such.
The big three tourist cities - Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Vallarta - in my experience and opinion - are no more dangerous than any city in America. Much rather spend a night in Cancun than South Oak Cliff....that's for damn sure.

More and more of Mexico is under cartel control and that country is heading down the failed state highway. The cartels aren't exactly Forbes-type businessmen. I would rather spend the night in any American city than in Mexico where you do not know who is on the cartel payroll and who isn't.

This entire thing is sad, not just the tragic loss of life, but just as much the implosion of a country and its rich culture. I have had several occasions to cross the border and enjoy great food and music, and the great people of Mexico. No way I would do that today. As Choctaw said, the challenge is knowing who is good, and who is not.

I tend to avoid most American cities too....have no desire to ever go back to Mexico or most American cities....and those cities I do visit I am very selective as to when and where I go....

Did I ever tell you about the time we fell into a bottle of Whisky at our hunting camp in benavides and decided that boys town was close? Never mind.

Or about the time I was left in the parking lot of a bar/restaurant in Nuevo Laredo at 1:00 in the morning with 2 bottles of Tequila for self defense?

It’s a shame, because I had a great time in Puerto Vallerta, but I won’t go back for a long time, if ever.
I just turned it on . I was looking bird dogs in the butt this morning.

I decided it wasn’t safe when the kids selling chewing gum advertising they’re virgin mother weren’t in the street anymore. That’s when I knew something wasn’t right. I was over there in Acuna a couple of years ago getting some dental work done and it felt pretty safe. The army was on every corner with an AK and a mean looking dog.

I was just in Chihuahua on business. Certainly not a place you would want to hang out for fun. But it never has been during my whole travel career.
A couple recently got murdered on Padre Island camping. Nowhere is safe.
To be determined
