Trying to add to my collection of motion decoys. The real decoy natural swimmer, what holds it in place? If I put it out in open water on a lake, is it going to swim off? Just wondering about the logistics below the surface. Anybody have one?

Bought 2 and tried them out for the first time this weekend. Work great! You just attach a standard decoy line and weight. One thing I'd recommend just from my first time trying them out is to put a swivel on it at the decoy. They basically propel themselves around in a circle and you need a swivel to minimize tension/twisting of line.

What I have noticed looking at mine, make a seal around the battery flap on its back.

Funny... I was gonna make a thread yesterday about adding some motion, but I got busy. I’ll be sure and check those out. I’ve always been a fan of the old jerk string myself and used to have pretty good luck with them in the past.

In the advertising video, the guy dunks entire decoy under water while holding the flap open, supposed to be operate even when wet. If they're advertising such a strong wake left behind the decoy moving, the weight attached to string scares me from it swimming into deep water where I can't retrieve it. I'll probably weigh it down pretty good in the beginning just to be safe.

I've run two of these for a few years. The swivel is a must and I'd make the chord at least twice the length of your regular floaters, makes for a larger range of motion...

As far as the flap goes, you have ZERO chance of keeping water out but luckily they DO operate when wet. Keep the prop shaft lubed and you'll be fine.

Buy the $2.95 bottle the guy sells on his site. I didn't at first and had to buy two of the repair kits after 2 years.

Do they have one speed ? Do they swim fast or just a steady slow speed. Some of the videos looks like they are going pretty fast

Yes they are 1 speed. I have a lot of them and some run slightly faster than others but all look pretty realistic. I really like the flutters as well.
