500 or 1000 rounds at a time. Larger quantities are also fine. 147 gr for training, also some self defense ammo at the same weight, that hopefully runs the same. Be running in a good ole, plain and simple Glock 17.
It is probably the cheapest centerfire pistol ammo on the planet. So cheap, I can't justify loading it from scratch.
Go!

RSR, Davidsons but you have to have a account. Mostly look for "free" freight then price shop. The last 1000 9mm I bought was from Natchez.

Right across the river in Oklahoma, I can order one morning and have it the next afternoon, reasonable prices and shipping.

Put in caliber, grains, and see whos got the deals. Look for one with free shipping. Bought from sgammo, outdoor unlimited, grab a gun, even saw a cabelas deal one time and went to the store and picked it up.

I agree right now while prices are cheap you don't save much by reloading. You can shop and get 9mm for about .15 cents apiece or that's the best I have been able to do.
I can reload them for .11-.12 cents apiece with my brass of course.
Not much savings at all when you count your time but it only takes one Democratic win for it to turn around so I keep supplies ready to load. It hasn't been but a few years ago that you had to buy a pistol just to get them to sell you one box of 9mm ammo and dies and bullets to reload were impossible to find to buy. I took up 3 Gun during that period and it was a chore to get anything to reload with in 9mm/223/308 calibers.

I've got a box of Hornady Critical Defense, because I couldn't find some Speer Gold Dot in stock when I was ordering.

No nickel cased for me. I will collect what brass I can, and nickel scratches dies.
But, 9mm is one of two of the cheapest centerfire rounds there is.

PSA when they have free shipping is pretty hard to beat. Wait until Black Friday, will likely be .14 delivered.

Not what you asked about, but I am not a good enough shooter to see a big difference in POI at typical defensive handgun distances.
For me, it's about needing more trigger time with clean reliable ammo. Brass cased Federal 115gr in 100 and 200 round bulk packs for 16.5 cents per round still at Walmart - picked up another 1,400 rounds on Wednesday when I was near there, and they had a lot more. When my kinds and older grand kids are in town, 500 rounds of 9mm goes downrange in a hurry!

I'll second SGAmmo and the Speer Lawman if you are going to shoot the Gold Dots (similar ballistics).

When I order I get it from SG ammo. My link is only to refer what to buy if you want that grain.

How big is the difference in the POI between light/heavy loads inside at about 15-20 yards?
Am I making a mistake by training with 9mm 115/124gr fmj ammo when I carry heavy loads for self defense? Yes, I can feel the difference, but I can't see the difference. I repeat, I am not good enough to see it - but some of you folks are.
FWIW, I ring steel with my GP-100 and Dan Wesson .357 at 75yds.

Marc To me, if you can feel the difference, then it matters. Recoil recovery, and getting muscle memory to that, is important to me. So, if I'm going to defend myself with 147 gr bullets, then I'm going to train with 147 gr bullets.

Fair enough. If it has an impact on shooting, then by all means. Thanks.
