While hunting opening weekend of Muzzle loader in Oklahoma I had major issues with glare from both my set of Nikon binoculars and Nikon Omega 3-9x40 scope.
The stand was facing West toward the feeder and I had a buck under the feeder and all I could see was that it was a buck because of horns coming out of its head; the entire field of view from both binoculars and scope was filled with a golden colored glare and I could not make out any other detail about the buck other than it had horns. I couldn't even count the points because of the glare.
Distance from me to the feeder is 112yds, and even with the sun falling below the trees I still was getting glare until darkness came; if I looked to my 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock position at the same distance everything was crystal clear..... but facing the sun even with it setting under the tree line all I got was glare.
Anyone else ever experience this?
These binoculars & scope are the only Nikon optics I own; everything else of mine is Leupold...... and they didn't glare on me.

i had that problem with a Nikon Monarch 4-16 a few years ago. I’d have tried to live with it, but it broke, which sort of solved the problem.

That's pretty common if you're looking right into the sun or near it. Adding a sunshade will help.

I have had it happen with good optics, put a T-shirt over your head and the optics Ive had it with a few scopes shooting east into the rising sun. I don't think its a scope issue.

Looking into the sun... a sunshade helps a bunch Tried shading the lens of both the scope and binoculars with my hands and even a jacket and no help.... Funny never had this issue with my Leupolds!

The glare or flare I had with the Nikon was way more extreme than anything I’ve ever seen from any other scope I’ve used, and that’s a lot of years of using scopes.
