What makes your outfit better than the King Ranch?

To share my experience, I just got back from a nilgai hunt I booked through Cody. I had a great time and things were better than I could have imagined. The ranch was large and the hunt was a true “fair chase.” I was succcessful with a nice trophy nilgai. You can’t go wrong using him. I came a cross him after going to the King three times and not being able to get in range of a nilgai. At the King, all we did was drive around all day. For my vote, go through Cody. Well worth it. I will be booking again down the road.

He required a .338. Just to give you an idea on how tough these things are, I shot mine with a .375 Ruger. One shot to the shoulder and one in the center of the neck at 100 yards. Neither one was a pass through.

Neither one was a pass through. That is really surprising they would require such a large caliber. Those nilgai must really be tough as I have killed all measure of African plains game up to the size of eland with the lowly 30-06. Thanks very much for the information. R

i shot my first nilgai in the neck at ~100 yards with a 30-06 and that's all it took. that said, they are definitely tough animals and great fun to hunt.

Thank you for the positive feed back! We strive to make sure all our clients have an awesome and successful experience chasing Nilgai. To answer some of the questions on size of gun used. we recommend the .338 or larger because these animals are some tough ones. Yes, you can shoot them and take them down with a .223 as I have done it myself and seen other people do it several times. Shot placement is the key factor with Nilgai as is with any animal you are shooting, Nilgai however are not very forgiving as other animals are and can absorb lead like nothing I have every seen. Not to mention they don't bleed a lot either so they are no fun to track. So my philosophy when it comes to these hunts are the bigger the better. We understand that not everyone has a .338 or a .375 so we do have loaner guns on our hunts if anyone ever wants to use one or needs to use one. I Do have dates open for this free range hunt and also offer free range Oryx, and Waterbuck on same ranch. So if anyone has any questions or would like to book a hunt please don't hesitate to contact me at anytime. www.insight-outdoors.com or Cody@insight-outdoors.com Cody Phillips Insight Outdoors, LLC

Headed home from hunting with insight outdoors, we had a great time with a great guide. And saw possibly 200+ nilgai. Spot and stalk and got a really nice bull. Hunting buddy got a nice oryx. Great food and accommodations. I would highly recommend. My only suggestion would be bring a fishing pole just in case you finish early and head to the coast. It’s not that far.

Hunting blue ghosts on the Wild Horse Desert - it just doesn't get much better than that.
Food for thought - consider hunting Nilgai cows and you will end up discarding your beef. Just as elusive and far better to eat 'em.

Texfork, I’m glad you went with Cody. These days anyone can create a webpage and make themselves look great. Cody and his set up we’re the real deal. Good luck!
