Sir with all due respect, that link says nothing about roosting habits, and if you can hunt the roost or not.

I need to know what’s wrong with my Sandhills that winter on me. I’m concerned they have CWD. Makes no sense we have zero water and have a hundreds every night in our fields.

And as Sir Garrett noted, that’s a sketchy source.

See, what happens is when you hunt the roost, it wreaks havoc on the psyche of them birds. Causes all kinds of emotional distress. Some resort to the purple rock coacine. Others just decide life isnt worth living and they do crazy unheard of things like roost on sand piles or in fields. Hoping a coyote comes along and ends their miserable existance.

I appreciate you, coming straight to the expert with your questions. Lots of bad info out there and I am always willing to spresd the knowledge in the name of conservation.

Since the lake is 100% NOT a crane roost it is a moot point but even if it was how can hunting this one small private lake have "ruined crane hunting for the entire South Taylor County"??... it's ridiculous...

I mean maybe if you were shooting them as they came off the roost on the neighboring property it would have an effect on just you. There are dozens of other places cranes could roost.

BUT it's not a freaking crane roost! Maybe it was 15 years ago. I have been hunting this property and watching this lake for 9 years and I have only ever seen cranes on it after the season. I have not shot at or seen a crane on this lake during the season in 9 years.

Yes, at times ducks have roosted on it but even when they do it has roosting and feeding ducks. It's not anyways used as a roost and even if it was, to suggest that us hunting it has ruined your duck hunting is absurd. There are several other larger lakes in the area that ducks roost on.

What a cry baby...

None of those but...

Those lakes are used as roosting holes and I have seen crane on Peters by the hundreds.

And since my little lake is obviously not the only one in the area this shows just again how idiotic it is to think us hunting it can ruin all the hunting in the county.

The other funny thing is Elpato-dumbasso was the only one who mentioned the location and is now complaining of unwanted attention.

Take it easy son, you are liable to give yourself an aneurism. I knew you would take the bait, but dam. You spooled me!

The truth is that your honey hole is 100% a crane roost. I watch it every year to know when they arrive. Y'all do bump them out every year. Thats why you see them back in there in February after you quit hunting.

The place they roost when yall bump them is about 6 miles north and east of you. I have it leased and it dont get hunted. Period. End of story. All that water on the map is meaningless. It takes a certain kind of water to roost those birds. Dumb azz

This is even more ludicrous then that. This is like getting mad at a guy fishing a different spot 100 yards away from you because there's a chance those fish could've swam over to you, and you could've caught them.
