Went over to Saratoga for a couple of days to hunt pronghorn. Found a couple of mature bucks but nothing really good on the pubic. The weather coming in later this weekend should push more into the area but we have deer and elk to hunt now. Mine goes 13 1/2 and the spouse's goes 14 + inches. Had a little weather change this morning before we got out.

Your husbands is low to mid 70’s pretty easy just from that angle, if not better, I’d say it’s a really really good goat. I’d like to add any dead goat is a good goat.
Congrats to both of you. You are making want to renounce my Texas citizenship

You're right BOBO. He got a nice buck for what we had to work with. Funny thing, we glassed a pivot that was covered in pronghorn right next to the BLM land. Spouse decided to make a little walk around the edge of the pivot on the BLM to see what else might be going up to it. I parked the truck in a little draw and waited for his walk about. Hadn't been there for 15 minutes when a group of pronghorn came running out of the pivot,, right under the fence and by the truck at 100 yds. The buck was with them. I guessed my spouse had shot something and that spooked them but he did not get back to the truck right away. Turns out the pronghorn spooked from the pivot field when he was walking back. Circled around me in the truck then headed back to the pivot filed. Spouse met them in the open on top of the ridge and they headed out into the BLM where he got the shot.
Good mass, better prongs and the tight curl adds length that many find hard to judge. He was very happy with the buck considering the conditions we had to hunt. Most of the pronghorn are on private right now, the large ranches outfit and do not allow trespass hunting, or any public access but there is plenty of BLM around. We saw some whoppers on the private so big bucks are out there.
This is a modest PP area and is open until Nov 14 when they start flooding in for winter, they also start dropping horns then and you have to be careful handling them. The hunting can be extreme in Nov. though.
