I got the original one part shot, but doc want's me to get the new 2 part shot. anyone else? seems overkill.

The effectiveness goes from mid 60's to mid 90's with the two part. I've had shingles you don't want it!

I had the shingles before the vaccinations, when the Doctor mentioned the first vaccine, I was ready, when offered the update, I never hesitated. The shingles suck major bigtime. I would take the vaccine.

Always heard the Shingles shot gave you Shingles like the Flu shot gives you the Flu.

My wife got shingles when she was pregnant with our first child...in her eye! Then on that whole side of her face. None of the doctors wanted to handle it because she was expecting. She kept getting referred to different docs and finally one got it fixed. I don’t remember all the details, but I do remember it was a mess!

Both my wife and her sister have gotten the 2 part. After each one they had super sore shoulder and arm and couldn't do very much at all for a day. I suppose it's still better than the shingles.

I had Shingles on my head/face in early 2017. Mis-diagnosed. Spread into my eye. Recovered fine. ...until just a few weeks back when it came back again but only in my eye. Again, it has cleared up. My PCP told me to wait six months and then get the new two-part shot. I will be doing it. Want to do all I can to keep it from coming back in my eye which could cause impaired vision or even blindness.

My doctor told me initially that there would be two parts.

I got the second shot at CVS.
My arm was sore for three days.

But if I can avoid the shingles, it will be worth it.

That was potentially true with the old shot because it used a live virus. The new two part shot does not use any live virus and absolutely can't give you shingles. The only downside is that for a lot of people, the shot makes you feel like carp the next day. You sort of have flu like symptoms but it goes away pretty quick.

I had the shingles around my belly a few years back. Itched like crazy. Never got to the painful stage though. Thought it flared up again a couple weeks ago but some of my MIL's fungal cream cleared it up. Probably need to ask my doc about the vaccine when I see him next.

Not something to mess around with! Crazy thing was... when her eye first started having issues we got her an eye wash kit (little plastic cup you fill with liquid and then put your eye down in). After she had put her eye down in there, I said... you know what, my eye has been bothering me a little too... here, let me see that thing. And I filled it up and stuck my eye down in it. I have no idea how I did not get it

And 7- 14 days on the wall.

My wife and I got part 1 shot last month. I felt like I had the flu for a couple days. Arm was sore for 4 days. We also got a flu shot at the same time, in the other arm. Will go back 2-6 months later for part 2 shot.

My wife and I got part 1 the other day. It was free with our BCBS insurance. Three days later my arm is still red, hard and sore. My wife is fine.

My son got shingles on his side when he was 29 and was miserable for a couple of weeks. Had an uncle that got it inside his head and he contemplated suicide.
