I do incline dumbbell and barbell presses. Sometimes vertical too. Not 100% sure why except I felt the need to mix it up.

Have yet to successfully do any incline flys though blush Those suck.

if you want a workout that works all your muscles with no impact

take up swimming

I used to swim 1/2 mile a day 5 days a week; I now just work on
the ranch on weekends .... all the workouts you'll need

I used to compete in power lifting for 24 hour fitness and got to travel all over the US but got burned out on weights and regular training during that time. Don't care if I ever see a set of weights again in my life but nearing 40, figured out I had to do something.

I started MMA and have been going serious for about 10 months and love it. The weight hasn't shed as fast as some alternatives but the strength and endurance improvements have been impressive. I have seen the greatest improvement in my core strength which has been great for my back pain.

Kinda my story, minus the competing part.

Started lifting weights 3-5 x’s a week at 16 and pretty much did it until I was 30.

Then got married again with kids this time and pretty much quit going to the gym.

Got back in a few months ago and I just don’t have the desire to be in the gym anymore.

My wife got me into her boot camp that she has been going to and besides proving to me how out of shape I really am it has rejuvenated my interest in fitness....I actually enjoy going to work out at 5 am.

It’s more of a HIIT style of workout. I’m liking it so far

Ran a marathon last year and got real thin and weak. I have been doing the Starting Strength program by Mark Rippetoe. Pretty good workout and doesn't take too long. 3 days a week heavy sets of 5 with squats, dead lifts, press and bench press. Eat and rest.

Eat as well as you can, exercise as often as you can, stay away from things not natural, and pray daily.
Now I ride my stationary bike daily and swim daily.
All things in moderation is the best long term plan.

Moved from adding 20 lbs to dips to adding a 35 lb plate. Mildly exciting. I like dips a lot for some reason.

Attempting to bench 350 lbs by Christmas. Was able to push 295 lbs once this week. Not much time left!

Adding some weight in incline and vertical presses to get me there. I think I'll get to 315 but not 350. Any suggestions for increasing bench weight outside of what I mentioned?

I did these things called FML's. Grab big dumbbells and put them where you'd put your hands for push ups. Then put feet on a bench, go below parallel, it adds a lot more constriction than a standard push up.

I'd assume you're using a cable machine to do flys?

I do those push ups exactly as you described. I dig it.

No cables in my shop. Maybe one day.

Deadlifts and squats are highly recommended by numerous ex pro athletes and competitors that are in there 50s and 60s now. 2 hours of heavy lifting or running 10 to 20 miles like your in your 20s your breaking down your body.

And don’t laugh. But working on your balancing is another big change as you get older. Look up slack line. As you get older your sense of balance deteriorates . You fall, break a hip. Your dead in 3 months. This happens to many older people

Keep on keepin’ on. Those are respectable numbers.

I just changed diet/got back into the gym recently after a 5 week lazy spell, keeping after it this time. So far down 10lbs, from 245 to 235 and counting. Power walk and weight train 4 days/week for now, will most likely move up to 5 days before long.
