Until he gets it sideways pulling the travel trailer in the mud they’re not even coming close to standard east tx deer lease use. Bonus points when the trailer slides with the truck.

Careful, you'll start an unintended one uper scenario.

Pure functional ability and Strength. IFS send axles flying w/locker

Like I said Offroad is generic, lot of hard core builds based off 3/4, frame and power plants. Especially Baja style and expedition

But they don't use a solid axle in baja style. Alot of the top rigs in KOH now are all IFS front as well and I would say it is the hardest single day offroad race there is with 100mph sand stretches and stupid hardcore rock trails.

Yes I know I’ve had fun in a Baja truck In CO via driven exp @ gateway. You are talking a 500k plus trophy truck with two spare axles in the back attached to the cage. I’m talking Baja run able truck for $6-8k or less. Last time I was in southern Cali and Baja there was a ton of guys running 3/4 fords and dodges running carli or similar type long travel kits for Baja.

Same with rock crawling ,bunch of 3/4 with chopped frames climbing rocks.

We can argue merits of solid front vs IFS all day, both have pluses vs minuses. End of the day me I’ll take solid front axle across the board.

I agree with BoBo about the solid axle being superior....especially in longevity.

IFS just doesent hold up like a straight axle, but rides much better

I’m not too tickled with the mileage from my 6.7 diesel either...

yes but even with 35's it wasn't great.

I think on the highway I was getting 14 mpg with the 37's its like 13.5.

if I drove 60 mph everywhere I think it would be in the 15's but with the hills and an 75-80 mph speed limit its drinking the diesel like a frat boy on dollar beer night

Being a contractor that works out of his truck every day I sure wish someone would put out a gas 3/4 ton that got decent gas mileage. Guess I'll just keep overloading my half ton every week.

I don't know if your set on a brand, but I have read good things about the RAM 2500 with the 6.4 hemi. It has an 8 speed transmission and MDS (cylinder deactivation) Have heard people say they get upper teens out of them empty and normal gas 3/4 ton mileage loaded.

My buddy has the ford 6.2 liter FX4.

With stock tires he gets around 15 mpg which I thought was pretty dang good.

My 1/2 ton 5.0 got that

Ive put almost 200K miles on my 2011 F250 with a 6.2L. If i were going to trade her in today, i would nave no problem going back with a 6.2L. The only thing i would change would be going with the 4.30 gears. The 3.73s are fine if you stay stock, but if you intend on going with big tires, that will really hurt you while towing.

I do have to say, i am very intrigued by the 7.3L. Maybe i can talk my boss into going that route for my next work rig so i can try it out on their dime!
