Fish sticks! The book i’m reading mentioned them, and my thoughts ran back about 60 years, to when Mom would feed them to us. Nasty! Maybe a big dose of spicy catsup would have made it better, if we had had any.

Any of you folks ever eat fish sticks these days? Can they even be bought?

I’m gonna think about this for hours, like a bad song you can’t forget...

What was the childhood food you hated?

I could choke down anything with cornbread or biscuits.

Yes fish sticks are still available. Just had some last week. It’s quick meal the wife does when she’s had a long day at work, or the cupboard is bare.

lima beans and beets! To this day I can not stand either.

I used to not like brussell sprouts either, but now I cook them with onion and bacon with some balsamic glaze reduction, and they are amazing!

Beets! barf I was just looking for Lima beans in the frozen section yesterday, there weren’t any. Guess it’s the wrong time of year.

We called them butter beans rather than Lima beans. You have to pass the cornbread. Country ham helps.

Fish sticks were awesome. Still are. Who doesn't like crunchy food and ketchup!! Not good for you though.

Any casserole was nasty!!! Some creamy crap and noodles with some kind of white meat probably from a can. I think as mentioned above it was chicken tetrazini! When she made king ranch casserole for the first time things got better.

I just made a spicy meatloaf that is to die for. I used salsa instead of catsup, and some jimmy Dean crumbles. It goes great with macaroni and cheese .

Fish sticks are still around...had some last night. Can't say they are my favorite. My parents used to eat buttermilk and cornbread. To this day I still can't go that.

Meatloaf is great, and I don’t care if it’s touching other food. But somebody mentioned casserole, which is what my Mom made a lot of. Great woman, bad cook. Even today when my wife is cooking up something new, I just tell her to not call it a casserole. Just the word turns off my hunger.

Mom used to fry up Spam also, but I don’t remember if I liked it or not. Sounds awful, but maybe worth a try.

Fried spam, Mac&cheese, English peas was Wednesday nights. The spam would throw my sodium diet into chaos now.

Tuna Casserole or any flavor of Tuna Helper is nasty. We used to eat a lot of fish sticks as well. Now I can't stand them.

Thanks,
Rich

Fried salmon patties. There's something about the smell of them cooking. I would have to go spend the night at a friends house.
