Anyone have one? We are building a pool and planning on doing a fire pit, but for the price ($4400) wondering if it is worth it. Have considered one of those pre-fab fire tables instead of a stone fire pit.
Any opinions or pros/cons would be appreciated.

A rim from a semi truck set on bricks, and wrapped in rocks and cement. Rocks were gathered from the place, bent rim was free, labor was on us. We bought I believe 2 sacks of cement. But with the county fire bans most of the time it sits there.

Best thing you can build for family memories. We have a 6 foot across with a pipe bottom with pipe legs at the ranch and it's cooked many a great steak. I got it as a Father's day gift from the kids. They bought it at a welding shop. It's got a swing a way grill and attachments you can hang a pot of beans on. It's also has a outside ring on it to prop your feet on when it's cold. First thing the grand kids want to do is build a fire and roast marsh mellows. We always put the fire out when we are finished with a water hose. Too dry now to take any chances now.

I think the price was around $600 back then. I like that it's portable depending on wind direction you can move it. It is heavy though.

I've got one on order with Ramball. He's going to cut our "brand" into the sides, swing-away grill, etc. I really liked the one we inherited at the last deer lease, left over from the previous lessees, a defunct wireline company that apparently had an expense account that would make a drunken sailor blush. Of course, on any deer lease, the concept of occasionally cleaning out the ashes is completely lost on but a few people.

This is one at a hunting camp on the Nail ranch. It cost around $500.

Maybe you just got me a little thicker gauge on the bottom. Gracias.

I was thinking about putting an 8' round galvanized tank in the ground and surrounding it with a bunch of river rock I have.

Find you are large diameter thick walled end cap for pipe. We had one at a ranch in La Salle County that had legs welded on to it and then a swing around rack holder. It had a small 1/2" to 5/8" hole in the center of the bottom to allow water to drain out. We cleaned it after using it as or after a weekend of hunting. It is still going strong 17 yrs later. Looked like this one but regular steel and maybe a shade thicker steel.

Elevated stone with stone surround. Then kids can't fall in and you can prop your feet up. Couple stone benches and room for comfy chairs. $4,000 sounds about right.

Fancy schmantzy. In that case, go big or go home. Go with the built in. And throw some parties. Lots of parties.

I will say this, buddy has one like you want but about 3 times as long. We can get 8 round it easily but they don't produce much heat so don't count on that unless you sit on the ledge. It's nice to sit on a couch and kick the feet up with a nice beverage though. It's filled with glass.

Is the 4400 an addition from pool builder? If so, I would aftermarket a masonry one.
It ain’t to hard for a stone guy. Just find out what type of stone the pool guy is using, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, etc.
Run gas to it, then have stone guy match pool, coping etc. check out Custom Stone in Dallas.

The likelihood is you are having it built into the new pool deck. There is a little more work to doing that. You'll want it to be gas so they'll have to run a gas line and have a plumbing inspection. If you aren't considering gas, I highly would recommend it. So much easier and they have wifi starters now you can just start the pit with your phone. Plus you'll have to have all the stone and mortar work. Seems a bit high to me but I don't have the full scope of what they are proposing. Here is one we did a couple years back that is wood burning. And here is a gas one that we actually got to enjoy on opening night. This was a deck extension that also came along with about $7000 in new concrete.
