With our rifle season opening next weekend, I am getting incredibly excited about the upcoming few months. I was on the porch last night enjoying that east wind and was thinking of my goals, both personally and professionally, and what I want to accomplish this year. I'd like to hear your goals as well! Any big deer pics are more than welcome. I'm just excited to start chasing fur.

Personally:
-put my stepson on his first deer
-stalk a whitetail on foot and successfully shoot him/her with my bow
-harvest a big, mature ten I passed on last year.

Guide Goals
-successfully put adults/kids on their first deer
-get someone their PB buck

Below is the buck I'd like my stepson to shoot. We got him a rifle this year and he's put in a lot of sweat equity towards earning himself a nice deer. He's an old seven that needs to go, and I can't think of a better person to take him than a 13yr old boy looking for his first harvest.

Shoot a deer bigger than my biggest thus far.

I hope to shank a big axis with my bow. A cull whitetail with the bow would also be cool.

My season started about the first of August so I’ve already done quite a bit of killing this year.

I want my kids to get a good buck....my 12 year old shows more enthusiasm so I hope he gets a good buck as a reward for his patience and attitude for the game

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Just go out to hunt as often as I can and enjoy every minute of every hunt.

Well I've committed to taking my oldest boy with me on every hunt this season, so thats more of a plan than a goal. The goal for us would be to harvest a public land buck with my bow from a ground blind.

I like y'all's style. I think it's going to be a good year. Worse case scenario I get to go hunting a lot and enjoy every minute of it! I love my "job".

A lot of it is going to be just going and getting away. Nothing specific targeted so far, the ranch/deer have taken a bad back seat this year to busy lives! Playing catchup and ready to get away and relax. I would love for my son to take more of an interest in going this year, he has gone several times and likes it, but often is distracted from going to stay back at camp with his cousins and play. I'd like to get a deer with my bow and a deer with my new rifle as soon as I settle on a load.

Have hunters get all the Deer I need taken and not have any wounded and not found. For myself go and look and if a nice fat Axis spike or 2 year old presents itself try to take him.

A good friend of mine from out of town has joined our lease this year. I'd like to see him get his first buck with a bow this year. I have a couple of old bucks that I will hunt this year but if it doesn't work out hopefully run an arrow through a doe or two.

I hope to slow down a little and relax and enjoy the camp and the hunting experience with family, friends , and God. I haven't seen the one I'm after yet, but I know he is around. If I connect, it would be awesome, but if I don't its still ok. You win some, you lose some... He already knows I'm back! elmer

My only goal every year is to have a good time. Teach all the boys something and turn pups into bird dogs. The only thing I take seriously about hunting is how my dogs act.

Try to get my boy his first buck but that is up to mother nature and him shooting straight. His shots are not consistent on target so want to get that straightened up. I shoot a 1 inch group with it and all shots will be within 130 yards. I got my biggest last year 145 so would need to be 150+ for me to pull the trigger. I hope someone on the lease gets their biggest that isn't a 3 year old 13 inch 10. That is a stretch goal! grin

Main goal is to put 3 deer in the freezer. It takes that much to last us until next October. Secondary goal is to get a mature buck with my bow. I've shot many pigs, does, and a few spikes with my bow, but have never taken a fully mature buck with my bow.

Spend more days in the stand than not. Get some awesome pics of wildlife with my camera all throughout the season, and if I get lucky get a nice buck.

On a new lease this year, so goals are to learn the ground and deer travel patterns, thin out the hogs, and get some venison in the freezer.

1. Get my gf soon to be fiance on her first deer.
2. Get my first bow buck
3. Get to see everyone on the new lease do good, so we can stay put and not have to start over and search for another lease next year

Same as every year. Just enjoy my time in the outdoors. I don't have to kill anything to have a successful hunt.

1) Get first deer with a bow
2) Kill a bunch of ducks
3) Try and bring my brother on a few more duck hunts this year.
4) Get my puppy as much tracking experience as possible

Hunt more. I was a little lazy last year. I should hunt more this year, specifically during the rut.
Hunt some different spots-last year I saw deer in odd areas/times.
Take a deer with the crossbow.
Take a deer with the muzzleloader.
Guide my niece to a good buck.
Make my own jalapeno-cheddar sausage.

I'm loving these answers.

LongHunter, that deer in the background (centered in between your feeder legs) is a beauty of a buck.
