Anyone here ever been drawn to Quail hunt Big Bend? I was selected and curious if anyone had any experience chasing the birds throughout the park.

If I were you and wanting a blue quail Hunt I’d go to SE New Mexico. All the land around Hobbs is public hunting. I haven’t heard what the bird population is doing at Big Bend right now but I talked to a buddy consulting on Riggs in Hobbs NM and he said the population is great. It is also about half as far from Longview. I don’t think you can bring dogs to Big Bend either. The good thing about SE New Mexico is there’s good oilfield roads crisscrossing every couple hundred yards or so and you can drive around until you see a covey, jump out and start blasting. Throw the dogs out and make a round.Thats the best way to hunt Blues in my opinion. I’ve never hunted Big Bend but I’ve killed a lot of limits in SE New Mexico. You should post this in the upland and gun dog forum also, some of those guys may be able to help.
