First year on a new ranch. Already have a close friend on here encouraging me to put a cap in this buck's rear. 'Really torn, 'need to shoot does, etc., etcetera. No brow tines to speak of. (The one on the right.) (The one on the left.) Night view:

That deer is at least 6 yrs old. All I can say is he is definitely not safe if he travels 210 miles to the SE between now and the first morning of the season.

I don’t know who this friend is, but I suggest putting the bullet in his shoulder, not his rear....
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

First year on a new place, I'd be real selective. Probably let him walk. That's just me. He's nice though.

Creek it is a nice buck I am guessing at least 5. It would be a deer management decision if it was me, do you have pictures of better genetics out there if so then take him if you want, if not you might want to pass Either way good luck this season

'Just learning the place. Previous owners I think operated a "beer lease" (to steal another phrase from a friend), so I really don't know what's there yet except a lot of pigs and crappy blinds and trash that'll take me a few years to get cleaned up.

Looks like a nice mature deer to me.
I'd bust him and be pleased as punch if it were me. Nothing wrong with an early pay off.

yep, if you like him ... the next couple of weeks you might even get a better idea of what else might be around to help with your decision point

I take culls, unique or big
My fault is does, not that I don’t want to but that the freezer is only so big (and I don’t let outsiders on my places)
My daughter and I hunt, we can eat only so much
Being she is a new hunter, i encourage taking what she fancies
At some point, soon I will need to alter this(she’s 13)
If he fits your criteria, take him and don’t look back
