The series begins tonight (Sunday) on PBS. 7pm here in Houston and likely other Texas markets.

Country Music - A Film by Ken Burns

DVR has been set a couple of weeks. Looking forward to it.

Episode One was fantastic.

Epic Ken Burns.....best documentarian of our time.

As you would expect, Burns has taken a slow and very methodical approach. So much more to cover in the remaining seven episodes.

It has been very interesting so far. Definitely worth the watch.

I watched Episode 2, but didn't see #1 or any other showings. It was good! Plus I liked not having commercials.

I have enjoyed what part I have been able to see. Here are some interesting comments about WW2 and VN War etc and the music.

Ken Burns' epic "Country Music" series is airing on PBS, and the documentary devotes a good chunk of time to the World War II era and how soldiers from the South helped introduce what had been a regional music to the rest of America.
As the United States prepared for war, country music stars from the Grand Ole Opry toured military bases as part of the Camel Caravan and introduced troops from all over the United States to sounds that had previously been popular only in the South.
