I guess that I have fed most brands over 60 years of owning dogs and over 50 years of running hounds. Black Gold and Loyall are the two brands that work best on these dogs. Less waste, easier clean up and dogs don't get overly fat when "sitting on the shelf" in the summer months. Slick and shiny haircoats and dogs have more stamina. Don't worry about "grain free" dog food unless your dog has allergies. If the dog has allergies, I would not use that dog in a breeding program. Adios, Gary

We feed Sportmix. It works really well. Black and Blue bags are my favorite. I have one that prefers the blue and one that prefers the black, just a difference in piece size really. They stay fat and healthy and shiny with no problems. Does not take a lot to feed. I have big dogs (80 and 115 lbs) A 50lb bag lasts me about 3 weeks.
I used to feed Purina, but after discovering that Purina never keeps the same ingredients, I quit using them. I had a horse that would colic every time I got a new bag of Purina feed, so I researched. They do not guarantee that you are getting the same ingredients in every bag. They change ingredients in the distribution based on price rather than a guarantee to keep each bag the same. Anyways, purina works well for most, but i prefer to at least have a general idea of what is in each bag.

Taste of the Wild...because you don't have to use google to translate the ingredients....no grain. That and we have one picky eater and she LOVES that food, so that helps.
