I took my son out on his first big game hunt with the intention of him being the one to harvest something. This was a day i've looked forward to for a long time. His Grandpa handed handed down a .270 Remington 700 a few weeks ago, but it was just to much for his shoulder. I took his .270 and a AR-15 in 5.56 out to the stand. We didn't chamber a round in the AR-15 and when the hog came out it misfed and jammed in the clip. That little boys heart sank. He asked for his .270, I asked if he was sure, he said absolutely.

I took a video of him shooting it. He is centered in the frame with the rifle, he shoots, nothing but the gun barrel left in the frame. He says he didn't feel a thing. Adrenaline is a hell of a thing.

Smoked pulled pork shoulder, ribs, and breakfast sausage for the popper. Shoulder and ribs rubbed with Salt, Pepper, Comino, and Paprika. Basted every 20-30 minutes with a mix of 2 cups Coconut and Pineapple juice, 1 Cup worcestershire sauce, and 1 cup of brown sugar. Tender an excellent flavor.

Shot my first deer and hogs with a 270. I was 10 and had been shoot it before once here and there since I was 8-9.

I think parents are more concerned about the recoil than the kids, especially in a field situation.
