Can You guys give me some places to shop for the best price on a Benelli Montefeltro 20 ga. Not sure which exact version except satin wood and blued receiver and barrel. not sure about 24,26, or 28" and lightweight model or not.

It's for my 31 yo son and he will buy what he wants but asking for my opinion on which one to get. I'm leaning on suggesting the 26". Mostly be used for dove and possibly quail once in a blue moon. He has a 12 ga. Pump so would probably use that for duck or turkey.

It doesn't need to be bought right away and can wait for someone to have a good price. He can afford it but everyone likes a good deal. Doesn't even have to be for this dove season but that would be nice.
Wish I could afford one too!
I'll have to stick with my old SxS 20 that doesn't have near enough drop in the stock but once you learn where to aim, it's not so bad.

Anyone have any advice about which one to recommend for him? 24". 26", 28", "lightweight"

He's a novice shooter. I'm thinking that 24" might be a little difficult to hit with do to the shorter sighting distance but thinking 26" might be just perfect. Any thoughts?

I'm a pump guy and double barre guy, with zero experience with auto loaders but through research and having seen one, We're stearing toward the Montefeltro.
He bought a "new model" bargain priced 870 about 5 years ago when he was still in school and neither of us is impressed one bit with that gun. I think Remington hit the bottom of the barrel with quality on that POS.
He has a real good job now and can afford the Benelli but he's like me and prefers to be patient and shop for a bargain. He likes top end quality stuff - buy once and cry once attitude.
I think a used one in perfect condition would also be considered. He scored a used pristine HK USP compact 45 a while back and that turned out to be real nice pistol.

If you don't mind departing from wood, look for a new or used Benelli M2 in 20 gauge in either 28 or 26 inch barrel. Great pointing and shooting.

My boys shoot these and sometimes I find myself picking up one of them for sporting clays in favor of my 12 gauge.

I've not shot or handled a Montefeltro, so I can't comment on how it feels, but I think the M2's are great guns. And a 20 gauge with the right load and choke will do fine for ducks out over decoys. Your second and third shot will be right on target.

The Montefeltro is a very light shotgun. Think hunting rather than target. I’ve got the 28” tube on my 12ga and wouldn’t go any shorter myself.

I have an ultra light 20 w/26" barrel. My favorite dove gun, it is very light and wouldn't be a lot of fun shooting several rounds of skeet, kick is lighter but sharper than my monte 12ga. W/28" barrel.

I have the same gun and for about everything the last few years except dove it has been my go to gun. Dove I mostly use the browning 28ga but ocasionally the Benelli 20, I also use it for clays, turkey and ducks.
