Saw a bunch of this guys big brothers running all over East Austin. They were too fast for me. But this little guy wasn't near as fast. He was released to hopefully meet his potential.

Yeah they can move quite quickly. Used to chase them often as a kid.

They are fast. I think they are called Striped Whiptails. My grandparents used to have a rock wall around their yard and those lizards would run all up and down the wall.

The key to catching them is to not let them stop to rest. They tire out pretty quick if you can keep them on the move. I may have caught one or two growing up Nice find.

I got those all over my place. The trick I use for catching them is to sneak up and let them see one hand moving slowly towards them while your other hands sneaks around and surprises them. Caught plenty of them. They bite too but it doesn't hurt.

The big ones will startle you if you're not paying attention. Run by you thru the leaf litter and scare you. Had one pass me in the gutter a little bit ago. No way I can move that fast anymore.

We use to call them Racers because they were the fastest around.

They are all over the place right now. Baby Anoles, striped lizards and tree lizards. See 10 to 20 every day lately. cute little fellas.
