I used to enjoy it before all of the showboating shuck and jive. The headslap and just a generally tougher game made it a worthy spectacle. Now it is chock full of grossly overpaid prima donna's that the media loves to stick a microphone in front of as though they actually had something to say.

I could care less about professional football.
I quit caring when I woke up and realized what happens when you take a football deer hunting or take a football to a gunfight.
During the last Super Bowl I was standing in front of a Dillon 550 loading 9MMs.

I quit caring about football and baseball when I was a teen and stepped off the field.
Imo if I couldn't play it I didn't want to watch others play it.
I personally don't understand the love people have for professional sports

I can understand people watching a game here or there, or even get into the habit/tradition of watching all afternoon on the weekend. It's a free country. It just never has been for me; huge time suck. What I worry about is guys like one son-in-law of mine - if the TV is on, it's on sports. And the TV is always on if they're awake. I worry about my grandkids getting a very skewed view of the world. Oh, they'll be able to compete, there's no doubt about that, but there are a lot more aspects to a full life. And I think hunting teaches a whole lot of good things.

I always enjoy your in-law posts Creek. There's a line in The Ghost and the Darkness where the older, black tracker asks Val Kilmer's character if he likes his wife. Val Kilmer says "Of course, I love my wife". The tracker replies "I have five wives (or maybe he says 'seven'), I don't like any of them." I feel the same way about son-in-laws. (I have three. 'Just had supper with one, not the one mentioned above. I must have really messed up somewhere along the way. )

I watch a few games a year, usually because it in on in the place I am a guest at. But I do not like putting up with those that are obsessed with it, they are annoying. It is like they are sheep following the football ads and hype trying to find meaning, sad people.

Dang, lots of “elitists” on here........ I guess I’m one too as I don’t care much for it anymore.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I don’t think it’s an elitist attitude at all.
I just think there are those who choose to invest their time into something tangible and then there are those who don’t.
There are a lot of good qualities to be had in playing sports. I just don’t find them in watching sports.

Grew up going to most games with my father. Still go to his house many Sundays to eat and watch them together. My 14 yr old son is 20 feet down the hall now finishing homework. Drove an hour tonight to watch him play in Ennis. He took a kickoff and took a good hit out of bounds. Anyway, I enjoy it. Probably would be way different if I didnt get to do that with my father. He never hunted or fished or golfed. I have tried with him but it's best he stick to watching football.

Same. I went to every Texans home game from 2006 to 2011, probably didn't watch a combined 10 minutes of game play. I doubt I could name 5 current professional athletes. I'm not trying to brag and I don't look down on people that like pro sports. I just don't understand the attraction.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Now if they want to stop all this namby pamby, cry baby, he hit me too hard, I need to get paid more than anyone else, I demand tv time, crap...... and just play the game and hit harder than they just hit the last guy, I might start watching. Pro football would be much more interesting to me if it was more of a blood sport. How about some full contact ML Baseball? Basketball would be awesome if these guys would just stop the “He is looking at me” “Don’t touch me or I will fall on the floor and have a tantrum” “I deserve a free throw”
