Can you or would you hang a protein/mineral block to keep hogs from eating it? Would the deer still be able to eat on the block ? Is that something any of you have thought about .

If the deer can reach it, so can the pigs.

If too low the cows will get it. If it ever rains will the block crumble?

Drilled hole in block and placed it on top of T post and then screwed on the top of block a piece of tin for rain cover. Deer ate no problem (no cows) or put inside cattle panel feeder pen. It's a block on a stick (popsicle) until it gets crumbled down and falls off.

Saw a metal block feeder you could put 2-3 blocks inside and had a 4" pipe welded to it at angle to slide over on T post but never got around to building myself one

About 3/4 of a regular T post. A piece of about 2" pipe to slide over the T post, with a plate welded on top with holes in it so you can bolt an old tire rim on it deep side up. Keeps it off the ground and collects the pieces when it starts to crumble. Also works good for feeding a part of an alfalfa hay bale.
