I like that smith with the cut down trigger guards - gunfighter special.. seems these rangers knew some fine engraver's bet you there was a lot of who had the best engraved weapons. either the engraving was cheaper or they spent all there wages on weapons. That BAR is bad [censored] also. one Ranger & 1 BAR is all it takes. Bet those old time rangers didn't worry about being PC

My wife let me stop there ONCE...liked to never get me out of there (in fact, I remember now I had no choice because they were closing for the day)! We don't get to stop no more

They really have a nice bunch of old Barbeque guns there. Lots of history and very interesting. I've taken a lot of relatives and friends there when they are visiting Texas, and they always are awed by it.

Dang, some of them boys liked em fancy. I figure a lot were gifts to them, too. Heck, even the saddles looked pretty fancy. I've always wanted to stop in there and I reckon I will one of these days. I've got a classmate that became a Texas Ranger.... Major William A. (Tony) Bennie. He's retired now and is Chief Deputy of Grayson County. Really nice guy...but I wouldn't jack with him. He's HUGE, lol
Mmmm Hmmm

Great photos! The museum is on my list the next time I'm over that way. My boys will love it too.
I can't imagine that most of those pieces were carried all that often but maybe they were. About the only one I'd carry is Ranger Jackson's even though it is 38 and not 45.
Interesting that Riddles had all that work done to his military service 1911, I wonder that that gun has seen...
Lots of beautiful engraving work on those show pieces though!
Thanks for the pictures LSCG!

Did that tour in 1982 as a 12 yo when my CC Padre Little League All Star team was playing in state tourney in Waco. We lost in consolation bracket finals. Great museum from what I recall.

I was having lunch in a cafe in Ozona back in '05 when Joaquin Jackson walked in. The place was packed and there was one seat open at my table. He walked over and asked if he could sit down. I said "have a seat Ranger". He laughed and said "well I guess my covers blown ". We hit it off and he acted like I was his best friend. I asked if I could buy his lunch and he said he never turned down a free lunch in his life. Before we left he asked for my phone number so I gave him a business card and he gave me his cell phone number. About a month later I got a package in the mail and it was a signed copy of his book. He had a sticky note attached that said "thanks for the lunch, I enjoyed meeting you". I called him to thank him and he said he hoped I enjoyed the book.
In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years.
