How late do some does drop? I was putting out alfalfa today at a spot I have only a simple bale cage and mineral block mount and there was a doe under a puny mesquite with a really little guy. I only saw him/her from the back as they bolted away, but now that I get home my wife reminded me it's August 15th!

I have seen little guys that looked as if they were only a few days old in bow season, October.

Had a dead one on the road a couple days ago...couldn't have been more than a week or 2 old.

If a doe doesn’t get bred during the first heat cycle in Nov, they’ll come back into heat in 30 days. So it was probably a “2nd rut” or even 3rd cycle fawn. Should be fine since we don’t have hard winters here.

I’ve seen a fawn in October in south Texas

I've seen one with spots in bow season.

This photo was taken on November 10th. I am sure this was a doe fawn that bred late in the season after Jan that had this fawn. In the Hill Country area with some of the early fawning dates it is not unusual to see fawn born in late August into Sept-Oct. Once doe fawns reach a certain live weight they can heat cycle and breed in the late part of deer season in many areas.

I had pictures of a pregnant doe from last weekend in Stephens county.

Had a tiny fawn in my side yard this morning. No idea where mama was
