They say those Eagles were good riding machines. The 8V71's not so much. Unless turboed, down on power. My Prevost rides pretty good for a 28 year old Antique.

The 71’s are one of the crappiest built engines I have ever had the pleasure of working on. The little things most people take for granted when rebuilding them make most of them real turds. Detroit hit a home run with their 60 Series when they brought it out. It alone was able to replace a vast amount of those old two strokes and was better in every aspect. I retrofitted several B-70 Euclids with them, and they replaced the 12v71. The only application I still like the old two strokes is on pulling machines, they rev up fast and can get those blocks to the crown in a hurry.
