LOL, thank you.
I had sat there for quite a while that night, waiting on hogs that should have already arrived based on the game camera. The reality was that it was a chance to test the accuracy of the ammo I was running for Custom Reloads of Dallas...which performed just great. Of course, I am a fan of the British 'ratting' videos where the guys go into barns with air rifles and night vision and kill a bunch of rats. I could see doing that when not hog hunting.

So is the wood rat the varmint responsible for hauling cactus into blinds and making a nest of thorns on your chair? The ones in king county have almost a bluish tint and can weigh around a pound.

Yeah, chances are it is one of the wood rat species that are all in the genus Neotoma, AKA pack rats.

I took a different approach. I put some pieces of plywood on the ground around my stand and the rats burrowed under them. I got my pump 20 gauge ready while a friend flipped the plywood over and had me some sporty shooting and revenge at the same time. I would almost set up a pellet rifle for rat shooting with a digital night sight if I felt a Spring piston Air gun would not ruin it.
