Teal is about a month away Sep. 14 - 29, 2019
I wonder if it is going to be a good season this year?

There is no reason it shouldn't be good. We had a great season last year in Winnie.

Really depends on where you are in Texas.

Being retired now, I'm really looking forward to this Teal season. Oklahoma's Teal season is September 7 - 22 so I see it as a three week season for me. Then there is Dove, Rails, and Resident Geese to hunt too. I'll probably do a round trip day road trip soon to pre scout conditions at my old haunts and a couple new ones. Then I'll get the kayak and canoe out to scout for birds when the seasons get closer. Find the habitat and the birds will stop there at some point.

Teal season for us typically provides a few of the best hunts of the year. Last year we were bone dry but as long as we have water it should be good.

North texas is always spotty but this will be an interesting season with so many lakes being high all summer there is going to be minimal food sources for the teal and big ducks once season rolls around. Well see what kind of rain and weather we get this season

I'm really hoping it's a good one, early teal season can be some of the most exciting hunts of the year.

Last year was good, on just one flooded cut wheat field. If you see em in N Texas, you better drop everything and go after them the next day

We're going to go harass them this year. First time I've been in 45 years. It just feels too warm to hunt ducks. Since my youngest isn't playing football we'll have time to go. I have a hen mallard mojo I may use although I don't know if we will really need it.

I've always wanted to hunt snipe and rails but I've never been sure which are shootable and which are not. One of these days I'll hire a guide to show me. We have a decent number of resident geese in Granbury. Many a day I've been tempted...

Last year was bad on the coast for us. Too much water. Hopefully we don't get any major systems in the next month like we had right before last season. If we don't its typically really good.

If you see em in N Texas, you better drop everything and go after them the next day right then and there. They are gone more often than not by the next morning. Found 'em during the last week last year. Pulled a few limits the last weekend, but as usual there weren't a ton around.

Looks like lots of water again.I'm going to give it a another try this year. I booked with TexasSlam in Winnie going to try it out,and see for myself. He has some opening of anybody else is still looking. Now who has a good dove hunt,so I can brush up on my wing shooting, before teal season gets here??

I hope there will be birds, but there is so much water in the state, with a few isolated pockets the south Texas& lower hill county region is really getting dry. Lakes and ponds are in good shape. I fair number of Playas are holding water in the Panhandle. there has isolated showers, the 100 degrees days should zap what ever moisture is available from them. Have seen a few Blue wing broods and one cinnamon early in the year from the over winter rains fill plays early.

Is there an outfit I can buy a hunt from in the Dallas area? Probably can find one that will take your money but not many reputable outfitters sale teal hunts because they are very unpredictable in North Texas.

I wonder if North Texas season started earlier we would have more consistent success. It seems like the majority of the birds are at the coast and on their way to south america by the time our season start here. Oklahoma starts Sept 7th I believe. That's a good start date for me.

That Northwest arm is always loaded with teal, much more than the other side of the lake, not really sure why though. It's like that every year.
