I’m looking for a working cannon that I can blast
off in my yard whenever I want to. Of course, gun powder only. Where might I find one?

Really dislike your neighbors? Cause they realllly going to dislike you.

Been planning on building one for a long time. And I want it to have wagon wheels and run on black powder. I want to touch it off, with it rolling back under recoil and a sh*tload of smoke. Full regalia.

Have a friend with one that uses a 10 gauge black powder shell you load in the breech. Pretty simple and really LOUD.
I can ask where he got it.

If you find one you might want to forward the info to "NORML as can be" cuz it sounds like he might need one.

Talked with this guy at a gun show, he would be willing to trade for a cannon and they are sweet !! We gave him some bois d'arc wood and mesquite .
His contact info is at end of the article.
He makes small and very large, historically correct cannons.

I think it was the Spring of 1982 at SFA. The KA's and the Theta Chi's both had cannons in front of their houses and they were both known to be functional.
About 2:30 one morning someone, or someones, lit off a cannon loaded with pool balls at the front of the Lamda Chi house and blew the front door off the hinges, and it turns out that a couple guys were crashed in the front room at the time.
Quickly became pretty serious stuff. Nac PD, Nac Co Sheriff, FBI, ATF, and I think the Texas Rangers all investigated. The KA and Theta Chi cannons were seized and every one at both houses were severely questioned. Both cannons came back negative on recent use and were returned to the fraternities (over some LEO objections).

As far as I know the case was never solved.

For the shock effect, build a few rockets. It is easy, fairly inexpensive and if you follow normal safety standards it is safe. Find the 2 books by Dan Pollino for basic guidelines. I saw a friend launch one a few weeks ago that went about 3/4 of a mile.
