We had the foundation poured for our new home build last week. By the time the last truck left, there were men walking around on the earliest poured sections.

Looks like a nice layout, congrats.

We poured ours March 8th, and should move in next week.

Yep, a slow cure is better.
A fast cure will cause spider cracks.

Throw a couple pounds of sugar on the fresh poured cement while it’s wet, you’ll never have to worry about foot prints

WOW! BP is on to something that I never heard of. Sugar slows concrete curing. In fact if sugar is increased to 1% of the mix, concrete will never harden. You can actually spray sugar water on the slab to slow down curing/hardening in our hot weather.

But it certainly will not prevent critter tracks...

I had mine poured last summer but they started at 5:30 am.

That was more of a joke, to see who knew what sugar did to CONCRETE.

Well we got it poured. As luck would have it we had a violent storm for several hours the night before which did a great job wetting down the pad. The concrete trucks did a number on our roads though. I didn't find out until the last minute that they didn't bring the blocks to hold up the rebar......very unhappy about that. I was out there the entire time being a pain in the arse making sure they lifted every !@#$ piece.

I watered it down this morning and was pleased there wasn't any low areas where pooling could occur. They put a great finish on it.

Funny story. The day before the contractor and I were over at one of the windmills where I was showing him the concrete tank where he could pump water into his water trailer he was planning to use to water down the pad. Just as we were leaving the BIGGEST !@#$ RATSNAKE takes a header our of the WM structure and almost lands on me. I jumped like an Olympian LOL!!! He was 5'-6' long and had a large diameter girth.

Stroke of luck the county was working on the road down near the river and was hauling off dirt. One call to the head honcho and a center dump shows up 2 hours later brim full with the finest dirt you ever saw. No rocks or clods. Just real nice find sand.
