I can't rag on 'em.
I'm amazed that they can do what they do as cheap as they do it.

Last week my mail carrier ran out of gas in front of my house, I offered to use my mowing gas to get her to the station .5 miles away. She informed me she didn't have her wallet on her to fill up there either. I gave her a full gallon which is more than enough to make it to the post office. Another neighbor saw what was going on and followed her to the gas station and paid for a full fill up.

Craziest thing ever. I could maybe understand a rural carrier, but I live in Allen so she should have noticed not having gas before ever leaving the post office.

they worst part is that if they put your package in someone else's box, you have no recourse. it shows delivered. it's up to that person to do the right thing.

Yesterday mine went from "out for delivery" to "held at PO at customer's request." Well, I didn't request that. This morning I called them and they have no idea where it is. I've had to call them about fifteen times this year. It's frustrating.

At our PO the office people are pretty competent. It's the carriers that screw up time and again. I feel like a part-time postal employee because I deliver so much mail that was incorrectly left at my house.

I have no doubt the larger post offices are staffed with less than stellar employees.

Our rural carrier out of my PO in Van Zandt county is excellent. They are the only ones who can deliver a damn package to the correct address...other than Amazon.

UPS and FedEx - don't even get me started. The local distribution centers probably know my number by now when they see it on the caller id.

One thing that has helped me was getting a large package drop box. It cost around $600 to build, all sheet metal and angle iron, but it works. They put the package in. lock the box and move on. I do occasionally get smaller packages crammed in the mailbox though, guess it would be too much to get out and put it in the package box.

I guess all areas are different. For USPS, I have one lady who is excellent help, and another that I'd just turn around and leave if I didn't need things sent off. She acts like she hates her life and job, and it's miserable interacting with her. I had a Fed Ex package delivered to me that wasn't ours. We don't have a local fedex or ups office. I thought I was doing the right thing by taking the package into the post office so they could just add it to their route and deliver the next day. We had a small back and forth, and she said "I'm sorry, we don't deliver Fed Ex packages" I looked at her, said "Neither do I" and walked out, can't stand that lady.

FedEx over here is hit and miss, never the same driver, and had to write on the box to lock after each delivery because they wouldn't do it.

UPS man is the bees knees, He has my number, will text me when he drops a package, and always locks the box. He's not let me down once.

I mailed in a used oil sample for analysis a while back. I paid my postage and the guy said it should be there (Indiana) in 4 days. I tracked it for about a month... in 2 days it made it from San Antonio to Dallas where it sat for just shy of a month, then it made it from Dallas to Indiana in 2 days and was delivered the 3rd.

I'm lucky if I get half my packages delivered by the post office. Never had a problem with UPS or Fedex. I just received a part I ordered two months ago from the post office. Fortunately they resent the part UPS and I received the second one next day. Last year the post office put my package in someone's PO box when it was clearly addressed to a street address. When I called the supplier they said it shows delivered and nothing they could do about the $400 worth of boat parts I ordered. Luckily someone knocked on my door and gave me my package.

Good reason to pay with a credit card I guess, you can always dispute charges.

The carriers are under enormous amounts of pressure to be in by a certain time. 1800 some places other times elsewhere. They are tracked everywhere they go. They also have to scan the same package several times. I know in a post office without carriers the clerks have to scan each package 3 different times. I'm going to guess the carriers do too: Arrived: attempted: and delivered.

Amazon is a veritable nightmare for the post office folks who process the stuff and actually have to deliver it, many places including on Sundays. The weather is quite often not carrier friendly either.

A lot goes on behind the scene, in the way mail has to be processed, that most folks never know about. Their union is also a major pain in the a_ _ for management, lots of frivolous stuff.

It be what, it be.

The new guy that took over my route is lazy. Never know when he's going to show. I think he actually sorts and delivers mail 3 days out of the week at most. The rest of the time all we'll get is the unaddressed flyers so it "looks" like he actually did his job. My previous mail lady was great. you could set your watch by her delivery time each morning.

Maybe your Russian mail order bride just ran off with the mailman?
