I don't know much about this subject. I just know I go through about one a year or just over a year. Also, I don't know if it is just frequent power interruptions or what lately, but I seem to be resetting this thing about twice a week.

Now I've about got my shop behind the house about ready to spend some quality time reloading etc. and would like a signal out there. I've been getting by quite nicely for years in the house with about a $60.00 Netgear router. Even my son and friends across the house doing their gaming thing have been fine, several X-Boxes with plug in Wi-Fi USB receivers.

I just measured with Google Earth Pro the distance from my desk where the router will be to the shop at 90 feet. There are several walls and no metal, as in metal roof or any other flat metal surfaces. The home and shop have Hardi siding.

What do you guys think is the cost effective and reliable solution? Also, I have Suddenlink cable. It's supposed to be about 400 speed. But the tests never hit much over 100.

Edit: Maybe 400 is available, but I have 100. It just clocked in the 90's. I don't know. I sure thought I saw over 100 before. I could call Suddenlink. But by the time I got off of hold and through talking to six reps...........well you know. This isn't the Bunker. smile

Look at a mesh system like the Linksys Velop.
