Over the last 40 years we’ve made at least 20 trips to various regions/cities across Mexico. We have visites volcanoes, ancient Mayan ruins, beaches, resorts, rain forests (extreme south), mega-cities, and centers of culture heritage. We have recently looked at Mexico again and concluded that it has become the un-flushed toilet of the Americas. Mexican “resort” and “cultural” cities like Acapulco, La Paz (ironic), Los Cabos, and Tijuana have become war zones, with violent crime completely out of control, including murder rates higher than 1/1,000 inhabitants. I am beginning to wonder whether or not we will return ti Mexico again in our lifetime.

Would you go, and if so where?

Going South to Mexico???

I haven't heard that about Cabo and didn't notice anything out of the norm when I was there last august. I've heard in other places if you stay on the resort you are fine but it doesn't sound like you are a resort type of traveler.

My wife and I try to go to Cabo every year. We have been 5 times since 2014. We have never had or seen any issues. We get a car drive up all the main roads without problems. The issues they were having the last few years was all drug related. Don’t mess the drugs while you are there and you will be fine.

We love Cabo. Next trip will be Isla Mujeres.

I don't find Mexico to be dangerous, but then again I only go to Cancun area and south of the area for adventures and tours.

I’ve been to Mexico and had a great time, but it was over a decade ago. I think I’m gonna let Mexico breath for a while before I go back. It’s a shame.

It's always been a chit hole. 20 plus years ago my brother got shook down for like 50 bucks by a cop in Cozumel. Basically give me what you got on you or your going to jail. No thanks I prefer not to partake in that kind of crap.

I’m not going to contribute to the corruption and social catastrophe.

There’s a reason we’re building a wall. But if cheap resorts
and locals paid to treat you like some kind royalty is your thing
that’s your business. I just hope you’re not also against mass
border crossings, that would be hypocritical. IMO.

Never again. Last time I went was in the daytime.

Went to Cancun last year as well as Linares to my friends ranch outside Monterey. The only advice my friend says is don’t go out after dark.

MX is a &%#$hole country just like PR, Dominican, Venezuela, Cuba, etc. Last time I went was in 2007 chasing mule deer and won't go back.

Like I told my wife, there are plenty of beautiful places to see right here in the United States, where your citizenship counts for something.

Never been to Mexico, never will. Read the corruption that exists today, then read a history book that tells of it during Santa Anna's reign in the 1830's. Not a hair of difference.

I don’t spend much time in Dallas either....I limit my time in big cities as much as possible and completely avoid certain areas....kinda like avoiding Mexico... no difference IMHO....
