Sights are like buying boots, try them out as preferences are subjective.
My subjective opinions with my eyes -
EDC or target/range?
For target/range - Dawson.
For EDC -
I wear trifocals and in a hurry may have a fuzzy front sight picture and the Dawson front sight was hard for me to pick up in low light in a hurry.
I finally decided I to try a bunch of sights until I found something that was fast to acquire, worked in low light or no light as well as bright sun.
The local smith was slow, expensive, and fussy about changing sights, so I bought a sight pusher and quite a few sets of sights.
My favorites of the night sight sets tried and a few without tritium as well are below, but I definitely want tritium after testing without.
TruGlo TFX Pro - (made in Richardson, Texas) front and rear have tritium inserts. Really the best of the sets I tried, but I like the Big Dot up front better, which requires a mix and match combo.
The TFX Pro is a combination of fiber optic and tritium and well thought out. Also, the rear sight has a "ledge"/hooked angle which allows the use of the rear sight to cycle the slide if needed.
XS Big Dot front sights (made in Fort Worth, Texas) are great for a very fast acquisition and older eyes, but the rear sight is less precise and suboptimal for longer distances.
XS front and rear have tritium inserts available, make sure to pick the correct set if this set is the choice. The front sight really is very fast and easy to acquire in a hurry for older eyes.
Dawson (Florence, Texas) makes a few night sight sets and are nice as well.
Dawson will mount sights if you mail the slide to them.
Otherwise buy a sight pusher or find a competent local gunsmith.
My current combination EDC is the Big Dot up front and TruGlo TFX Pro rear, but I am always looking for something better.
I just pulled the pistol and took a quick photo below, lint and all.
The phone camera will not stay focused on the front sight - focus on the front sight when shooting.
