Recently picked up XD in 10MM 5in barrel, like the gun...hate the sights. I have night sights on both of my Sigs and would like to upgrade the XD sights or go with night sights. Any recommendations appreciated.

Now I lay me down to sleep
Besides my bed a Sig I keep
If I should wake to you inside
A corners van will be your last ride

My favorite sight are my Dawson sights. The small red fiber optic front with a target rear. And they are made here in Texas! I went to their location in the hill country to pick them up.

What do you hate about the sights now? The 5.25 guns come with pretty good sights. Are you wanting only night sights, don't like the fiber front, or something else?

I don't think dawson even makes sights for the 5.25. Do you maybe have the 4.5" gun?

It’s defintly the 5.25. I think the issue I have is with the rear sight, can’t seem to get a quick focus. Maybe just have gotten use to Sig sights

What is different about the Sig sights? I am afraid there are not a lot (if any) options on rear sight replacement on the 5.25s. Those are generally considered pretty good sights, probably why not any replacements out there. You can get different front sights though, you can also get plates to replace the rear sight and go with a red dot as well.

Had annual exam in May...all good corrected with glasses.
Will try and put more rounds thru it and see if gets any easier, not my EDC, so time to look at all options

Sights are like buying boots, try them out as preferences are subjective.

My subjective opinions with my eyes -

EDC or target/range?

For target/range - Dawson.

For EDC -

I wear trifocals and in a hurry may have a fuzzy front sight picture and the Dawson front sight was hard for me to pick up in low light in a hurry.

I finally decided I to try a bunch of sights until I found something that was fast to acquire, worked in low light or no light as well as bright sun.

The local smith was slow, expensive, and fussy about changing sights, so I bought a sight pusher and quite a few sets of sights.

My favorites of the night sight sets tried and a few without tritium as well are below, but I definitely want tritium after testing without.

TruGlo TFX Pro - (made in Richardson, Texas) front and rear have tritium inserts. Really the best of the sets I tried, but I like the Big Dot up front better, which requires a mix and match combo.

The TFX Pro is a combination of fiber optic and tritium and well thought out. Also, the rear sight has a "ledge"/hooked angle which allows the use of the rear sight to cycle the slide if needed.

XS Big Dot front sights (made in Fort Worth, Texas) are great for a very fast acquisition and older eyes, but the rear sight is less precise and suboptimal for longer distances.

XS front and rear have tritium inserts available, make sure to pick the correct set if this set is the choice. The front sight really is very fast and easy to acquire in a hurry for older eyes.

Dawson (Florence, Texas) makes a few night sight sets and are nice as well.

Dawson will mount sights if you mail the slide to them.

Otherwise buy a sight pusher or find a competent local gunsmith.

My current combination EDC is the Big Dot up front and TruGlo TFX Pro rear, but I am always looking for something better.

I just pulled the pistol and took a quick photo below, lint and all.

The phone camera will not stay focused on the front sight - focus on the front sight when shooting.

I forgot I won a set of these and added them to one of my G20's. These sights take some getting used to. But they are certainly easy to see. I'm not as accurate with them as other sights though.

Yep, the open and very wide "V" rear sight is the problem. If they would add a smaller "U" shaped rear sight, accuracy or quicker accuracy would improve, which is why I made my mix & match set. The bad part of that is having to buy two sets of sights.

OP,
Just checked and TruGlo sets fit the XDM, except for the 5.25” Comp Series. Dawson also does not offer sights for the 5.25”. So, those are out. frown

XS lists the XDm, but call and check about the 5.25”.

Might be worth checking with Springer Precision to see if they can help.
