I am toying with the idea of getting one in 300 Win Mag. I have never owned a weatherby and was curious what anyone’s who owns one thinks about them.

They put those holes in the bolt and that’s why I don’t own one But I’m serious, I can’t stand it If not for that, I’d own one Weatherby’s holes and Savages barrel nut, I can’t

Sacrilege! If you buy a Weatherby, get a Weatherby caliber! I thought about getting a 300 weatherby mag or a 6.5-300 weatherby mag, but the ammunition is not that common and is quite expensive and in limited selections. I don’t reload so.....the 300 Win Mag it is.

I had one built for me year before last in .300 win mag.
I chose it to be my do-all gun for around the world and the .300 win mag is versatile and ammo easy to find an inexpensive compared to their proprietary cartridges.
I love my mark V ultralight. I ordered it with a 24” barrel and a brake. It shoots like a dream. Kicks like a .270 or a bit less, very pleasant to shoot. Very accurate.
I put a VX-6 3x18 on it and it’s my favorite rig. Hard to justify reaching for another gun in the safe.
I do like my mark V accumark in .257 wby...perfect deer rifle but it’s heavy for a mountain rifle or walk-about gun
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I don’t reload so.....the 300 Win Mag it is. 300 WBY ammo is very common. Not only does Weatherby make it but now Hornady, Remington and Federal offer several loads. Plus with the internet ammo is one click away. 6.5-300 is pretty easy to find and Hornady is going to offer a couple of loads this fall. Don’t let ammo keep you from getting a WBY mag caliber. That said a win mag is a great caliber and Weatherby builds them.

My Vanguard is the most accurate rifle I own, beating out each of the Winchester, Browning, Remington, Marlin, and Savage rifles in my safe.

Got to play with my buddy's two new rifles this past week at the camp site. They were synthetic lightweight rifles in 6.5-300 W and 30-378W. Wow, that's a bunch of fire power in some light packages!!!

I would not want a .300 anything in a Ultralight rifle.

I would not want a .300 anything in a Ultralight rifle. Try climbing a mountain hunting goats and you will want it.

I would not want a .300 anything in a Ultralight rifle. with the factory brake its very pleasant to shoot. kicks about the same as my wifes Camilla (which is a tiny gun to begin with) in 7mm-08
