Tundra is far superior than Chevy, Ford or Dodge equal. Only draw back is it won't pass up too many gas stations. I've owned numerous Toyota vehicles and none of them required any major repair or left me stranded.

I really enjoy my 2014 Tundra and really have had no problems with it. The only problem that I have is with The small 23gallon gas tank. At 15 mpg it seems like I am constantly filling it up. Looked at an aftermarket 48 gallon tank but it’s going to be about 1k for the tank and installation.

After some years with the BMW 528i Sport, and the money I spent on that thing (though I loved it), I was honestly shocked at how little it cost to operate the Tundra. As I said, till today I had only lost a right rear taillight. Today the starter and battery cost me $1639.84.

I guess people get sick of us Tundra owners talking about how great our trucks are. I’m not bragging on the truck so much as I am just amazed. If this one ever dies, I’ll get another one.

Just remembered I need new wiper blades too. Hmmm, let me see if that can be done without it extending this ‘visit’.

Getting hungry too.

Get the wiper blades to go. They can’t be that hard to install.

Well, had I known the blades would total $40, I might have gotten them to go.

Ok, I 100%Disagree ...no major repairs on any of my Fords. Have owned a lot (over 20 vehicles in 35 years ), including my wife’s fords. Never stranded or major repairs with no gas station draw backs. I have logged over a million miles on diesels alone.

These are true experiences.

But, YMMV.

I think the older ones are better than the newer ones personally. The earlier 2008-9 Tundras we had were far better than the 2014 Crew 4x4 I traded off last year. A cold start valve of some sort went out at 42k, the nav and entertainment system went out the first time at 51, than again at 66k. None of this covered by warranties. It was far from bulletproof, and owning interest in a refinery would be a good idea in order to keep fuel in the freaking thing. Averaged 14.9mpg over the life of the truck.

We have also had numerous F150's and Z71's in our small fleet since 2002. We have had very little trouble other than the very occasional tie rod fix, and overall have had very good luck with them. We are strong believers in routine maintenance. 3 of the Ford's went over 300k, and several of the Chevy's got over 250k without much trouble. My 2018 Silverado LTZ Crew 4x4 runs circles around the '14 Tundra, as does the '19 GMC Sierra Crew 4x4.

Jgraider, I couldn’t agree more. My 2011 put more power down and the brakes had more meat.

I’m not saying there is a “best truck”, and I’m not saying Toyota sucks because they don’t, but Toyota does not put the rest to shame. I have owned and driven many many miles in Ford and GM, and I can’t think of one instance where I would have been better off in a Toyota. Our fleet at work is full of Ford trucks, like over 500 of them, and they have been very very reliable. We have some out to 400,000 miles that have not seen the shop for a repair other than scheduled maintenance. We did have a little run with Dodge, and that didn’t work out well for us.

My dad is 84 and drives the ever lovin' crap outa the Ford's we've had. He's got 235k on his current crew 4x4, and put 330k on his last King Ranch Crew. They have held up exceptionally well.

You can keep the garbage Fords. Only one I ever owned was bought back under a "lemon law". I will never own that over rated crap.

Back at ya...YMMV

I have a 2014 Tundra. I had to replace the power door locks on the front two doors. Cost me $100 total and I did the work. It has 105k on it. Good truck. I’d consider another.

They all build good trucks.

Find one you like and drive it.

Anyone done a Toyota rear wheel bearing lately? Hear that’s a pain too.

I maintain my vehicles and occasionally ask more of them than they were designed for. I e had great luck with all of them.

If you have a newer model vehicle and you cannot put a hundred fifty thousand miles on it without any problems or one or two very minor problems at most then you've got a problem vehicle. I've got a Ford F-150 with 161000 miles on it it's a 2014 5.04 wheel drive the only thing that's gone out of the starter I do not think that my truck is gold plated like Toyota drivers think.

Oh yeah I bought this truck used with 45k miles. It was owned by a company out of Odessa. I looked the company up this trucks life began working on the oil field and I'll assume it was idled. I personally work out of it too and it runs or idles I'll say on average of 8 hours a day Monday through Friday. With most of that being idle.

Ducknbass you bring up a good point. A lot of the reliability and longevity comes from what you do with it. Oilfield pickup being pumped and worked out of, full time ranch truck, hot shot truck, highway queen, high school kids truck, YMMV.

I wasn’t trying for a debate on who makes the best truck. I’m just really pleased with this Tundra. For the record, if I needed more truck, I’d probably go with a Ford F-250 and then have to decide between gas and diesel.

My oldest younger brother had a Tundra for about 8 years. Tore it completely up. Man he can destroy a truck. He talked bad about the Tundra and finally gave it to a nephew (who repaired it and is still driving it), and he bought a Chevy. And he has pretty much destroyed the Chevy. Now he says he preferred the Tundra and is going back to one. All I have learned from this is that a partially destroyed Tundra may be a better truck than a partially destroyed Chevy 1500. And this is based on a survey of one truck owner, so take it with a grain of motor oil.

The new 7.3 gas option on the F-250 sure looks nice. They still haven't listed power figures for it, but it will outdo the 6.2 which isn't a slouch.

My 01 Sequoia only broken the tranny at 150K, my fault, $1,800 total from a mechanic, lol did take him 3 weeks to find one.. Nothing else broke except the door handle at 220K. Tundra still going strong 40K in just over 2 years. KO2s still good for all you haters. Only been stuck once... bolt

I like it. It’s built old school with pushrods like they should be up

I bet it will hard on gas.

How many miles on the sequoia?

My parents have an '06 Tahoe going on 230,000 miles 10k mile oil changes with synthetic doesn't use a drop of oil and is smooth as silk. Replaced 1 alternator, 1 water pump, 1 battery, a fuel cap and a rear door latch. Its seen its fair share of boat towing and the travel trailer a time or two.

Even though it is more issue they are mostly very minor in comparison to a transmission. Just thinking out loud, not all the GM vehicles are all people belittle them to be.
