Got a Ruger 6.5 PRC the other day and finally got it out to the range for some trigger time. Model Number: 18029 Caliber: 6.5 Creedmoor StockFolding, Adjustable Length of Pull and Comb Height FinishType III Black Hard-Coat Anodized Barrel Length24" BarrelCold Hammer-Forged, 5R Rifling Thread Pattern5/8"-24 Twist1:8" RH Grooves5 Weight10.7 lb. Capacity10 Height7.30" Overall Length43.25"-46.75" Length of Pull12" - 15.50" Folded Length35.60" Width3.30" In-line recoil path manages recoil directly from the rear of the receiver to the buttstock, not through a traditional bedding system, providing maximum accuracy potential. Cold hammer-forged, chrome-moly steel barrel with 5R Rifling at minimum bore and groove dimensions, minimum headspace and centralized chamber. Patented multi-magazine interface functions interchangeably with AICS and M110/SR-25/DPMS/Magpul-style magazines (works with some M14 magazines). Ruger Marksman Adjustable™ trigger is externally adjustable, with a trigger pull range of 2.25 to 5 pounds; wrench is stored in the bolt shroud. Ruger Precision® MSR stock with QD sling attachment points features a bottom Picatinny rail and soft rubber buttpad. The left-folding stock hinge is attached to an AR-style buffer tube and accepts any AR-style stock. Length of pull and comb height are adjustable. Medium-contour (.75" at the muzzle) barrel features a Ruger Precision® Rifle Hybrid Muzzle Brake to effectively reduce recoil while minimizing noise and blast to the sides of the shooter. 15" aluminum free-float handguard is black hard-coat anodized aluminum and features Magpul® M-LOK® slots on all four sides for improved scope clearance for long-range scopes and easy mounting of M-LOK®-compatible rails and accessories. Ambidextrous manual safety for left- or right-handed lever manipulation. 20 MOA Picatinny rail secured with # 8-40 screws for increased long-range elevation capabilities. "Upper" receiver and one-piece bolt are precision CNC-machined from pre-hardened 4140 chrome-moly steel to minimize distortion. Three-lug bolt with 70° throw features dual cocking cams and a smooth-running, full diameter bolt body. Bolt body is nitrided for corrosion resistance, smooth operation and durability. Barrel can be replaced easily by a competent gunsmith using headspace gauges. Magazine well front is contoured for a positive grip when bracing against shooting supports. Oversized bolt handle for positive bolt manipulation, with a 5/16"-24 thread pattern for easy replacement. Bolt disassembly tool is stored in the Ruger Precision® Rifle Billet Aluminum Bolt Shroud for easy striker channel cleaning. "Lower" magazine well halves are precision machined from aerospace-grade 7075-T6 aluminum and are Type III hard-coat anodized for maximum durability. Extended trigger-reach AR-style grip and 45° ambidextrous safety selector. May be configured with any AR-style grip and selector. Also includes: two, 10-round Magpul® PMAG® magazines. After sighting it in, I sat down to try to do some "serious" shooting, using some Hornady Precision Hunter 143 grain ELD-X ammunition with an advertised MV of 2960fps. After 3 shots, I could only see one hole from 100 yards without my spotting scope. I walked out to the target, and, sure enough, one hole. Went back and shot another round; still only one hole. Then I got all excited and pulled the last, fifth shot! I am NOT a marksman by any stretch of the imagination, and I've never shot competitively except with my kids and grandkids, and they always win! I think I have a shooter, and once Chad can get me some of his hand-rolled magic rounds, I'm looking forward to some pretty consistent groupings, and maybe, just maybe, I can beat one of the family members in our friendly shooting matches.

Just curious, the Ruger description says Creedmoor, but everything else says PRC. Also, I think you need a taller mount.

It is much different than the Creedmoor. What I cut and pasted was Ruger's Spec Sheet. Here's a bit more on the PRC:. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...51D84AADA42ABF85D3EB51D84A&FORM=VIRE And I'm playing around with different scope mount heights to get the right weld since I have this giraffe-type neck. What you see is Iteration #1!

What you see is Iteration #1! I know what it is, you posted the spec sheet from the Creedmoor-look at the first line under the picture. Just clarifying that you mean PRC (you wrote PRC numerous places, and the MV would suggest PRC). The Ruger model number for that (18042) is different than your post.

Sweet rig, I bet it reaches waaaay out there. The barrel looks thicker than the lesser calibers? I like that.

So far, I'm liking everything about this rifle and caliber. Everything that I've read about it ( https://ronspomeroutdoors.com/blog/6-5-prc-hottest-new-rifle-cartridge/) says that it is a true 1,000 yard rifle and caliber, right out of the box. In order to test those claims, folks with better eyesight, better optics, and much more knowledge of long distance shooting than I have will have to work with them. The ammo box says that this caliber is hustling a 143 grain ELD-X bullet out of the muzzle at 2960 fps and if you zero it at 1.5 inches high at 100 yards, at 300 yards it will be 6.5 inches low. I've only tested to 100 yards, since I've only had the rifle for a week, but I will 'graph it with the factory fodder I have on hand, push out to 200, and then see what I can do at 300 yards. My ancient (79 years old) eyes and nerves will never let me get out much further than that since I can't see the target at much longer range than that! I'm hoping that my eagle-eyed kids and grandkids can push it out to it's advertised distance.
