Couldn't believe this. Last storm wind blew so hard it pushed the glass in my deerview windows out of thier frame. Frame was stil attached to the wall, but the glass was laying on the floor. blew the door open too.

How it didn't blow the whole stand over I don't know. I guess the tie downs at 45 degree angles tied to angled t-post worked. Several other stands blew over and even some campers in the area.

Opener for rifle season last year was an eye opener for me in Baylor Co. Got to our big fiberglass stand 2 hours before first light. Walked the whole way, never even turned on my headlamp cuz there was enough moon light. Walked 20 yards by a sounder. Puckered a bit, but made it lights out.

When I got to the stand I smelled smoke. It had been raining a lot so I figured somebody lit a burn pile. Got up the ladder, in the door, grabbed a chair and my hand stuck to it.

WTH? Turned on my headlamp to see that everything was charred up. Windows were all melted out. Sumbich got hit by lightning!

We didn't do anything about it last season, but we're patching it up now. We'll have it ready to go by Nov. I'm just glad nobody was in it. I sure won't be in any weather from now on.

I do not have either one of my box blinds tied down. That kind of wind and mine would not be standing. I keep forgetting to get t post and go to the lease and tie them down. I have to do this next week. those stand have been standing a good while and been through several storms. I've been real lucky.

i just can seem to remember.

Thanks, Billy

I had one of the blinds I built on a 10' tower turn into a ground blind a couple years ago....the wind took that sucker right over, even though it was tied down (not well enough, obviously). Took a couple of our neighbor's blinds down as well.

Funny thing, only 1 of the 4 glass Deerview windows inside broke during the fall and that is because it landed directly on a stump. That was impressive! We took that opportunity to move it to a better location outside of a wind tunnel, and REALLY staked it down well this time.

These are helpful if your wire stretches. I've had the turnbuckles loosen up on thier own somehow.
