I keep hearing about how bad the corn crop is up north this year due to all the flooding. I think this could make this an amazing waterfowl year depending on in season weather. But as far as my hog and deer hunting go, do yall think there will be an increase in corn prices??

Hard to say what the impact will be. I would think you will feel it more at the gas pump (ethanol) than from feeders unless you feed on a really large scale.

I no longer have a contact in Iowa but there is always an abundance of corn in storage, sometimes for as much as 2-3years back. Prices may go up but it will not be because of an actual shortage.

Yes, corn prices will be higher this year, surplus or no. Big chunks of corn country never got the crop in this year.

Futures are still 450’sh. A lot of replant so if corn goes up it won’t stay up due to late harvest, now if July ends up a heavy hail month it could change.

Corn prices are just like gas prices. I always be sure to keep a tube of KY handy in my truck before I go buy either!

I've heard most of your deer corn in texas is grown in texas, but do not know that for a fact. I know that a lot in the Midwest and in corn country haven't even planted, lot of fields still under water. So yes, some duck hunters in those areas may plant late millet or buckwheat. But in all, there shouldn't be large areas of planted and flooded corn. Interesting year for it to happen for waterfowl with all of the talk of short stopping getting higher.

Most of your corn is bought well in advance. Usually 2-12 months before harvest. It’s contracted not only by the farmer but also the feed store. So technically you have two promise notes signed before the combine cuts it.
